Default EGR on 94

I had a trickflow upper kit put on my 94 and the EGR pipe had to be cut because it isn't long enough . The only remedy was to apply a rubber hose around it to make it longer . Well that later burnt into and I replaced it and replaced it and replaced it now i'm tired of this is their an after market EGR pipe that will fit or will I have to make one somehow?

yea i had a 99 cougar... and had a vac leak goin to the egr. and i lost a bit of power in the high rpms. dunno if it would really effect our stangs tho. and what does it do? well egr stands for exhaust gas recircluation(recirculator, something like that). im not sure exactly how it works, but i wanna say it recirculates the good exhaust gasses and throws them up in to the intake(im assuming, because the egr is right there), but in not 100% sure... let someone else say if thats tru or not.

your egr recirculates exaust gasses when your cruising back into your intake. This lowers combustion temps, increases gas mileage, decreses emissions, and allows you to run more timing on the street. They make a special kind of rubber for egr hoses, it is expensive i believe (not too bad though, just expensive for a hose) but it will stand up to the heat of the exaust. Try calling parts at ford, they might know what its called. I say dont block it off though, try to keep it working, it will make your engine last longer. It doesn't take up any horsepower to leave it on there, it only works when you are crusiing, does nothing at idle or accelerating/decelerating.

I have one that is lengthened to acomidate an intake spacer, I am not sure how it was done but I am sure a welding or machine shop could fabricate something for you for cheap (The one I have looks like an extra piece was welded in), its not like its complicted or anything

I just went to my shop and took a peace of copper pipe put in the egr pipe then put the rubber hose over it. I then clamped the rubber hose to the copper pipe in the middle and then to the egr pipes. Maybe this will hold till i get one fabricated or buy that special hose from ford. Thanks for all the help !

How would leaving the EGR on make the motor last longer? The egr was never intended to make a motor last longer it was for emissions and to help carbed vehicles warm up faster. I for one hate the egr for the simple fact it puts carbon build up into the intake. If u like carbon build up in your intake then leave it on(or if you're a tree hugger). My mpg went down maybe 1-2mpg. This is just my opinion though.
