I got a problem.  I purchased my bassani x pipe about 2 years ago and i just installed my bassani cat back system about 6 months ago.  I say about 3 months ago the tone changed from BASS to just being loud.  What could cause the tone to change so much.  According to the mechanic the exhaust is suppose to get louder once it settles however mine did the exact opposite.  I don't understand.  I took it back to the shop and he checked for exhaust leaks but he said that there is no carbon deposits on the pipes (black marks or some crap) and he said there was none.  But the tone changes every day when i crank it up.  I also noticed that i can hear water hitting the x pipe and sizzling.  A matter of fact water is running down the right pipe right before the cat.  Some one please help cause i payed BIG MONEY for my exhaust so i can sound different and now it sucks.  Thanks!

if your tone is changing, and getting unbearably loud, your exhaust must have a hole in it somewhere. i just can't think of anything else.

Tighten up all your exhaust bolts, like headers etc.  Also check your clamps or welds

the water is from the air conditioning and the tone change is most likely resinating of the mufflers. but if there was a hole check where the pipes go over the rear end some after market tend to rub there and would eventually rub through.

If water is coming around the cats then check for leaks high up including the gaskets around the headers. That may be your source. I agree with BCisme I think you've got a hole somewhere.

Thanks guys but one I have never ever received any head work on my the stock block has been untouched however, the shop that i did go to has a rep for sucking butt in the installation department!  They put a upgraded radiator on my friends 82 with a 351.....and they did not replace the fluid in it!

The sam thing happened to me, at first my car got wayyyy to loud with the stock exhause, they said that one of the mufflers became loose, then they fixed it and it became wayyyyyyy to quiet, now whenever i drive a lot and close my door the right cat always sizzles when i close my door, and at idle the right exit pipe always rattles and makes a lot of noise noticable even when in the car windows up, i took it to ford and they said they could not find anything worng with it, its just like ur situation except mine became quiet, and yes water came out of the cat and only that one not the other one, and it made a lot if sizlling sounds, i thoought the cat was blown or something but ford told me it was fine, i dont know whats wrong with it2002 Stang GT37874.0816898148

Beats the hell out of me, i don't know what is going on with my baby  But, hell it still sounds good but it does not have the bassani sound a matter of fact i shall try to post the sound on the web forum if it is possible.  If any has ever heard a mustang with bassani cat backs, you know that is a different sound from any other cat back in existence.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dude mean is an understatemen!!!!!!!!!t...........it sounded mean as a man who's wife and daughter just got hurt by a rapist.  Is that mean enough.  When i first got my exhaust my friends toldme they heard me 4 exits up when i was at WOT.  Cars where basically running out the damn way before i got there.  At first i could not even answer my damn cell phone or even talk on it cause it was too loud!  It also comes wit turndowns if it is too loud!  The bass that it had sounded like a damn MAC TRUCK!  When I drove by the local "spot" the people always begged for me to hit it so they can hear it.  It sounded like 6 15 inch woofers were in there! uhh........need anymore comparisons?  When i pulled up to the other mustangs they always asked " what u got done a p & p and headers or a 351" and i would reply no "BASSANI".  Six hundred dollars well spent.....then........now it still sounds good but i want my "scare little kids and farm animals " sound back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I think i am going to put it on the rack and look up near the manifold or the engine bay to see if i got a bolt lose or something.  One more question for it sound like bass right that means tha i had back pressure....i think.......now it sounds like no back pressure is there.

I don't know if this will help you guys, but I've got a 92 GT and I had the same problem with water dripping on my x-pipe.  I investigated it and turns out there is a "spout" coming out of the passenger side firewall that lets the water out from the AC condensor.  I went to Ford about it and they wouldn't do anything but the only real solution is rig up something, i.e., a plate under the spout or put another piece of piping into the spout and redirect the water.  I seriously doubt your engine is leaking water back there.  If the AC compressor has been on and you shut the car off, just slam the door and you'll hear the water hit the pipe....and of course burn off.  Keep an eye on the exhaust pipe because it WILL eventually rust through.  Hope that helps you out.
