Yes turbo cars make a lot of their power at higher RPMS. Big deal.. If it runs a 10 making power at 5500rpms or if it runs 10's with a SC'd big block making 600hp at 3000.. it really doesnt make a difference. And no it doesnt take forever to get there. Yes if I stomp on it at 2500rpms im not going to launch, big deal. Make my car more streetable so that when im coming out of a parking lot I dont have to worry about 360's because i have 400ft/lbs of tourqe when im trying to pull into traffic. You guys prefer tourqe at low rpms, i like turbos. We dont have to agree.

Blows hemis im sure are daily driven. Im sure they are very loud, which for some is cool. I prefer to be able to talk to my passenger. Now I completely have to disagree that a blown hemo is more "exotic" than a Supra. Ive been to many of muscle car shows just in my local area and have seen PLENTY of blown muscle cars. Depending on the size of the show anywhere from 10-30 of them PER show. Now ive been to a bunch of import shows also and I have either not seen a Supra, been the only one there, or if there are some there, they are still on the stock small twin turbos. If you would like to see here http://www.mkiv.com/specifications/sales_numbers/retail_sales.html

There were around 7000 Turbo Supras built TOTAL in the united states over 6 years, thats about 1166 A YEAR. I can guarantee there is more than that blown hemis on the east coast. How many times have you gone to the track and seen 20 supras lined up in a row. Yeah I didnt think so, so to answer your thought.. NO a Supra is a lot more rare than you think it is.

Besides, it's damned cool to have a carb'd, blown, old-school big block that's over 30 years old tearing the crap outta new "hig tech" mini turbo things.

If you watch the video from the first post, I believe its one of those mini turbo things blowing away a blown V8..

Like a bud of mine always rags me about
*points to engine bay* You call that thing an engine?

Tell your "bud" to get off his tractor and take another look that the so called "engine" makes more power than his, oh god I dont even want to begin talking about cornering cough cough .96g's stock cough.

Sorry if you guys are getting offended but most of you are very ignorant.
Let's try to keep things civil here.

For starters, I personally care if the motor takes forever to wind up. But that's me. I never said blown hemis were exotic, just that I think it's cool that using carbs, pushrods, and massively ineffecient blowers they can make equal horsepower and an ungodly amount of torque. That's all. In my eyes, 650 horses out of 3L ain't didly. Check out some of the Buick Grand Nationals and Turbo Regals rolling around, the ones that are modified (not the little air filter and upgraded intercooler s**t) can easily hang with and beat Supras.

Turbos don't make more "high end". They make much more midrange and comparable peak numbers to any other form of f/i besides nitrous. The reason your motor takes forever to spool up is because of a massive turbo. However, your car is also meant to be impressive at speed, my personal choices for cars are impressive all over the speedo.

That video you posted was a SMALL BLOCK. Big whopity. The fella that's ribs me about my "engine" all the time actually has an equal amount of power as your car, BUT IT'S NATURALLY ASPIRATED. The reason you can actually see blown HEMI'S lined up together is because they were over-engineered, stand the test of time, and you can still get the blocks for relatively cheap. However, good luck saying that about a Supra........must be that 2 fast 2 rice syndrome.

And honestly, skidpads, big whop. I'm much more of a straightliner before anything else, and so are most of my freinds.

P.S. He ran 9's last year in that bathrub.......and he's got over 200 horses on tap this year with nitrous. Yet to run it.

That's still a domestic V6.....I've yet to see a Supra do that.

Yeah ive seen that video before. And yes there are Supras that make more horsepower than that, not many but I know of atleast one that runs over 1300 to the wheels. Once again for some reason you guys think I said supras are the best car in the world. They are not. Even the HKS Supra runs a V8 shhhh dont tell anyone though. Im just saying give respect where respect is due. A 3 litre 6 cyl pushing over 950 to the wheels is pretty impressive on all stock internals, along with the car being 10's capable on the stock drive train.

That video you posted was a SMALL BLOCK.

woa PAL.. I didnt f**ken post s**t, get your facts straight.. THE SUPRA OWNER DIDNT POST ANYTHING. I DIDNT COME HERE AND POST IT. I SIGNED UP BECAUSE OF WHAT SOME WERE SAYING.

and if I cared to I could sell my car, build an 8 second TT mustang and be like everyone else here. Thats not what im about! I like my car for what it is and thats all that matters

That's cool man, I'm glad you're admiting that Supras ain't s**t (heheh). I just think that you haven't seen enough daily driven 10 second domestics. Hit the track more often

go back to uncle ben's forum, cause frankly this argument is over. you guys came here to brag so dont act like you didnt. and really theres people here, like me and jeep to name two, that dont even have stangs, but just came for info and because we are interested in cars that don't have to be launched higher than the redline of a mustang to actually get going.

and another unrelated comment...if supras are so great at handling why waste your time drag/street racing?
Abdel - no, he doesn't drive a blown hemi at all. He's talking s**t. He doesn't even drive his Saturn anymore since he broke the differential trying to break into the 15's. :)

30 psi isn't insane boost on an engine that's built to take it.
Unfortunately a lot of mustang owners think that the 5.0 is the end-all of strong motors because they can do 6-8 psi reliably on stock internals, and 10 psi or so with a little bit of work.
Toyota makes some of the most stout bottom ends out there. I'd certainly like to pick up a late model Supra. Not only is it reliable and fast, but it's good looking too.
thoses roll pins in the diff dont hold worth a s**t, then the pinion shaft comes out and blows the case

Perhaps because they were never intended to be used with higher power levels than stock. It's a Saturn. Like a Civic with less aftermarket.

Not so much power levels, but the abuse that it went through at the track. s**tty design on the engineer's part......60 cent part can blow the whole tranny.....

You're gonna burn in hell for comparing a civic to any domestic vehicle.

The civic itself isn't a bad car. Darned good one. But in the wrong hands it becomes a horrific pain that tears at all that is good in the world.
Honda is an engine company. They just needed to figure out some way to get people to buy their engines, so they wrapped them in cars.

And I don't care if I'm going in hell or not. It would actually be a compliment for an American car to be compared to the Civic.

Man I am gone for all of a few dayus, and look what you guys do. you upset some poor hapless 650 or whatever RWHP supra owner. Dude I dont care about anything that is less than 6.5L. That is just me. I have no intentions of building them or anything. You do what you want. Someday whenI have $50k to throw at a vehicle for fun, I will build something "I" like and well I will enjoy it. I dont give a rats A$$ if you like it or not. It will be a PONTIAC. I own fords but hey I prefer grunt. lots of it.

Dont let everyone come into your forum here and pi$$everyone off. THere really isnt much sense in gettin mad over what some guy thinks, is there? I for one would rather lose in a race than get mad over one that will never happen. I respect those whom I know and what they accomplish. Not what they have bought. My cars were built by me. I worked for my measly income defending the rights of those who are posting on here, and not to mention the GAS you run these cars on..

My family, both myself, my younger brother and my brothers in arms are fighting and dying for the world everyone on here enjoys. You wanna get mad? get mad at the Iraqi's who put 15 holes in my brothers truck last month. There is no need for that kinda crap in the world is there? You want to get mad over something, well I know plenty you can be mad about.

I'm a newbee here but I have to agree with the threads about alot of bs being slung around. Till I read these last few threads I was really into reading what alot of people were sayin'. I just traded in a 96 MX6 M edition for a 03 GT and I have respect for both cars. Can't we all just get along. The only way I could possibly see any of these guys justifying any of their clames is by, jumpin' on a dyno and posting the results. Then we will all be happy and life will go on. Till then it will only be a poo fight and that's not cool.
