vfast has been around for along time, and is well respected on this board. Everyone has their opinions, right or wrong. I say things people disagree with and so does everyone else, thats why we discuss things.
I don't think that a couple people new to MustangForums is gonna change anyone's opinion of vfast, so why don't you either stfu or go join a ricer forum.
My point being is that many supras 650whp-900whp (on stock bottom end) are complete daily drivers for a lot of poeple. They drive almost like a stock car and go post 180mph. Its like comparing your car to a funny car. That car will cross the line first, but he'ss trailoring his car in and out and your driving yours home or whatever you do.
As far as bottom end. I'm impressed. What kind of power do you make?
And yet, they are only 650~900 horses when in the extremely high RPM ranges and take forever to get there.
Blown hemis are daily drivers for lots of people too, probably more so than an "exotic" jap crap. They are still streetable and extremely powerful with enough torque to make a semi worry for a second.
Like I've said (what, twice now?) I don't drive one, I drive a Saturn. But it's been done many times by many people, all with great results, which can easily shame your precious 3L I6.
Besides, it's damned cool to have a carb'd, blown, old-school big block that's over 30 years old tearing the crap outta new "hig tech" mini turbo things.
Like a bud of mine always rags me about

I wasnt trying to change anyones opinion, I asked about him because hes very stuck that V8's rule the world and it seems thats pretty much the thing over here. No one can give any respect to anything imported. You also must learn the proper definition of rice before you go using it. Rice is NOT just imports. Ive seen PLENTY of Camaros, Firebirds, Mustangs with HUGE metal wings, stickets all over them, so its NOT just the import community. Yes there are many many many many more imports that are "riced" out. What in the hell do all of you daily drive with full leather interior, A/C, stereo, power everything that you can drive right to the track and run 10's. I bet not many if any of you can say that. Im not saying the Supra is the best car in the world, nor the fastest. V8's have been on the tracks a hell of a lot longer then the 4 and 6cyl imports. They have huge displacement, can easily make retarded amounts of power, etc. For some reason you guys think im knocking your cars, im not. I respect whats fast, but you all cant seem to give that respect back. You really dont seem interested that a STOCK motored car can make 956rwhp because its not a V8.
"And yet, they are only 650~900 horses when in the extremely high RPM ranges and take forever to get there.
Yes turbo cars make a lot of their power at higher RPMS. Big deal.. If it runs a 10 making power at 5500rpms or if it runs 10's with a SC'd big block making 600hp at 3000.. it really doesnt make a difference. And no it doesnt take forever to get there. Yes if I stomp on it at 2500rpms im not going to launch, big deal. Make my car more streetable so that when im coming out of a parking lot I dont have to worry about 360's because i have 400ft/lbs of tourqe when im trying to pull into traffic. You guys prefer tourqe at low rpms, i like turbos. We dont have to agree.
Blows hemis im sure are daily driven. Im sure they are very loud, which for some is cool. I prefer to be able to talk to my passenger. Now I completely have to disagree that a blown hemo is more "exotic" than a Supra. Ive been to many of muscle car shows just in my local area and have seen PLENTY of blown muscle cars. Depending on the size of the show anywhere from 10-30 of them PER show. Now ive been to a bunch of import shows also and I have either not seen a Supra, been the only one there, or if there are some there, they are still on the stock small twin turbos. If you would like to see here http://www.mkiv.com/specifications/sales_numbers/retail_sales.html
There were around 7000 Turbo Supras built TOTAL in the united states over 6 years, thats about 1166 A YEAR. I can guarantee there is more than that blown hemis on the east coast. How many times have you gone to the track and seen 20 supras lined up in a row. Yeah I didnt think so, so to answer your thought.. NO a Supra is a lot more rare than you think it is.
Besides, it's damned cool to have a carb'd, blown, old-school big block that's over 30 years old tearing the crap outta new "hig tech" mini turbo things.
If you watch the video from the first post, I believe its one of those mini turbo things blowing away a blown V8..
Like a bud of mine always rags me about *points to engine bay* You call that thing an engine?
Tell your "bud" to get off his tractor and take another look that the so called "engine" makes more power than his, oh god I dont even want to begin talking about cornering cough cough .96g's stock cough.
Sorry if you guys are getting offended but most of you are very ignorant.

Most of these people don't care if the car can turn at all - it's all about the 1/4 mile. Which is fine. I don't know what my mustang would do on a skidpad, but I tell you in a parking lot it corners like an oil tanker. 3 point turns just to get into a parking spot in a tight lot suck. I often have an easier time in my truck. And that's got a 5" lift, 35" tires, and an 8' bed. But whatever.
Jon you might as well quit. A lot of these guys hate everything that either doesn't come from America or doesn't say Ford on the valve cover. It's sad, but what can you do?

yea I got a kick outta that too. Oh, by the way, there are just as many 1500hp mustangs as there are 950 hp supras, which are very few at best. I don't think anyone here doubts supras are quick cars, but what we don't like is when you come here to show us a 22psi boosted turbo beating a mustang.. woohooopteeedooo... then you call most of us ignorant... hey, call us what you want, but you dont see us going to your import forums and pissing on your lawn.

Awesome post.
Spend your 30k for a nice 950hp Supra with tons of boost, give me 20k and I'll build a big block with no power adders that will rip it a new asshole, with 10k to spare.

Anyone see some problems here?
[1.] V8's rule the world
[2.] No one can give any respect to anything imported
[3.] I dont have to worry about 360's because i have 400ft/lbs of tourqe when im trying to pull into traffic
[4.] I prefer to be able to talk to my passenger.
[5.] sorry if you guys are getting offended but most of you are very ignorant.

1. of course they do. glad we got that straight.
2. bout every god damn person on here says they like supras or rx-7's. learn to read.
3. Yes, I would much rather be rear-ended by a minivan because i cant get up to speed than learn to control the throttle because i am a mindless drone who has to have an easy to drive car. last time i checked its funner when its not easy.
4. yeah, gotta tell Abdel "Harder, Harder!"
5. see every comment above and rethink who is ignorant.

It shouldnt take you that much money.. prolly 15k at most. I know its a lot cheaper to go the V8 route, that was never my point.
And yes Supras can be beat, I make fun of people all the time that think they cant. I just happen to beat a mustang and someone posted a vid. Im done fighting about this. Thanks you to the people with some sense and to the rest.. well im sorry..
to my fellow members..sorry for getting a lil fired up..I just hate bashers....and thanks to the ones that got involved to help straighten these guys out....personally I have nothing against the jap cars is just the 'tute of some of the drivers that get me.. as we all know their is alway someone faster. if it's a jap car,'stang, camaro ,4 door caddy,etc..

Well said. I think everyone else here will agree with you. Its not the car, its the personality behind it.
