View Full Version : QUIET performance mufflers
5pony0 02-12-2003, 09:00 PM I have a standard 2 chamber Mac Cat back exhaust on my 90 GT. It is sooo f**king annoyingly loud at cruising speeds that it gives me a head ache! I HATE IT!! Needless to say Im looking for a change. I want a performance muffler that is nice and quiet in the interior, but with a nice low rumble on the outside. (If there is such a thing). I've been looking into Magna Flow, Spin tech, and Dynomax. Spin tech claims to get rid of the drone at cruising speeds. Magna Flow has the "wide open performance" and exhaust tone that the 5.0 mustang mag crew likes. As for Dynomax, im not sure what to think. Also, are there any fitting or clearance problems? All info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
noslow50 02-12-2003, 10:03 PM Well hate to say but u know who has an even better selection for your situation??? Flowmaster... you saound like u need the delta flow series.... from what i understand it's exactly what your lookin for...
92notch50Liter 02-13-2003, 05:49 PM I would deffinetly go with a 2 chamber flowmaster believe me is sounds nice. It sounds like bubbling water. Go for the flowmasters.
noslow50 02-13-2003, 09:17 PM Yea they r great but 2 chambers r too loud for what he is looking for... all in all i want the flowmaster sound!!!
Cobra R 02-15-2003, 01:38 PM i would say to get flowmaster. i think it has a nice sound to it and a lot of my freinds have it on thier stangs and it SOUNDS really nice, so go with the flowmaster. ----------------
Sticks and stones may break my bones BUT a CIVIC will NEVER pass me!

Funny stuff that's good lol
Justang46L 02-16-2003, 02:57 PM Hey i thought i'd give yall a word of warning on flowmasters. They are great sounding, and their quality is excellent, but DO NOT get them welded straight into the existing stock cat-back system. This is a BIG NO NO. i had that done (back when i was stupid) and the pipes had to be sleeved because the flowmasters have a larger diameter than the stock mufflers. Sleeving the pipes can causes massive amounts of exhaust leakage (not to mention cracked welding down the road), and now i'm having to replace the mufflers with a full-out flowmaster cat-back system, which should have been done in the first place. They have a better sound anyway.
noslow50 02-16-2003, 02:59 PM ouch that sucks... too bad man
spike306 02-16-2003, 06:11 PM i would have to agree with everyone else and say that 2 chamber flows are the way to go. as well as some form of "X" OR "H" pipe with a high flow cat system
Jameasun 05-07-2003, 02:20 AM If you want a "Quiet" performance style muffler but gets loud when you get on it; get magnaflow. If should get rid of any 2000 rpm range drone.
gtmustangmiguel 05-07-2003, 11:08 PM What do you guys think of Borla Cat-Back Systems?
stanglover 05-08-2003, 09:20 PM Borlas are expensive but l heard they are good exaust systems.
noslow50 05-14-2003, 01:08 AM what the hell was i thinkin of.... if it is too loud your too old.... quiet performance mufflers??? that's the STUPIDEST thing i have ever heard... if u want it quiet go to murrays and buy your cheap lil $2 mufflers... or be a man and stick with the loud irritate the hell outta everyone esle sound....
NegitiveCamber 05-15-2003, 10:39 PM What the hell? The point of having a powerful car is to let EVERYONE ELSE know you have a powerful car. Get a silencer or something...
jeep45238 05-16-2003, 03:50 AM Negative....you drive a hamster with a fart can (or garbage can, fist-f**ked-straight-pipe, whatever you wanna call it) don't you?
Ever hear of a sleeper?
Nothing wrong with having a quiet car that rips open when you mash the loud pedal and drops the jaws. In fact, isn't that what most of us strive for?
MustangGTRocks 05-27-2003, 01:43 PM Yeah I think a car needs to be heard!
I think sound means nothing,a$$ whoopins is what it is all about.Just my 2.
BCisme 06-04-2003, 12:59 PM get the flowmaster cat back with BIG ASS tailpipes!!! they will stare at your exhaust and say "godamn" as well as the sound, and the larger pipes resonate more. making it louder. everyone looks when i take it over 2500 <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">
MustangGTRocks 06-08-2003, 06:46 PM Then you will look like a ricer with big tail pipes...
Jugador1 06-15-2003, 09:12 PM yeah, pretty much anything over 3 inches looks ricey don't you think?
BCisme 06-16-2003, 04:03 PM ricey? no, nice long chrome tailpipes, 1 on each side, just big. loud as a mofo. they resonate, but no ricey sound.
Jugador1 06-16-2003, 07:22 PM i meant looks ricey
jeep45238 06-16-2003, 08:41 PM With a muscle car body style, big tips (and a motor to back them up) and straight pipes DO NOT speak ricer.
