If you dont have the toque to use slicks, then spinning the tires a little off the line with street tires is a good thing. You wanna stay in the power band from the get go. Even if yer tires are spinning yer putting way more hp to the ground then if you were at a dead stop. Peak power per gear is where you wanna be at and stay at on the track. Sacrifice hp for wheel traction is just dumb.
after your short burning out you should have a few feet i sometime rev it up to 1500 and let out to clean the tires and get a feel for traction...just a shot chrip so to speak..but the key is to write everything down for launch rpm with tire pressure and temp. of track...those thermo guns are awsum if you have acess to one..hope this helps

i do have access to a thermo gun. I am going to bring a note pad, barrameter, thermometer, tire gage, thermo gun, g tech pro, oh ya my car and me also. That should help me read the track and hopefully get into the 13's. hopefully we have a strong tail wind. going back on the 19th. hopefully not dissapointed before and after the trip.
when is the staging lane lift the hood up some to cool off engine...if you have a few friends pushing it threw the lane will help as well as a cool can and ice on the intake..(do not do this with the plastic ford intake).just for racing you can pull the air filter, add some psi to the front tires...if you need more just pm me

cool thanks, you say not to add ice to the intake if plastic. I saw a lot of people icing plastic intakes. is this just for the mustangs are they weak or just all plastic intakes cant take the heat to cold with out cracking.
