04#231SC,

This is a CBR1000RR.  No quicker than stock with the replica scheme to match Nicky Hayden's MotoGP bike.  It's plenty fast though.

Fast is probably an understatement... Very nice, both the car and the bike.

O.K.  This is a bit on topic, in that I happened on a cool meeting with car crazy Mustanger while driving the PJ.  I took my dad out for a movie and on the way back an 07 GT500 blue with white stripes pulled behind, then beside me.  The older guy in the driver's seat yells "Follow me up here!"  and he pulls ahead and turns left.  We pull up beside him the in parking lot and he gets out and shakes my hand. Nice fellow.  He was giving his lady friend a ride in the new Shelby and where we pulled into happened to be the parking lot of a business he owned.  While I explained what the PJ edition was, he seemed pretty up on Ford and Saleen in general.  He turned and said, "Well, do you want to see a real 1970 Boss 302?"  I thought he was joking, but as it turns out he has a HUGE warehouse / garage behind his business with cars stacked (yes, I said stacked) on lifts.  All of them (about 15 in all) Ford except a classic GTO.  And the list was just ridiculous.  3 GT350s, 2 GT500s, 1 GT500KR, a bunch of Cobras (one set up for racing at Hallett, one set up for drag) some nice Fox bodies.  Everything either perfect condition or fully restored numbers-matching.  The few newer cars he had was his GT500 and a Roush truck.  This guy races modifieds and has done SCCA at the time of Tim Allen and Steve Saleen.  He had a bunch of memorabilia in his office and tons of pictures of racing at different venues.

Long story short.  It made me appreciate the shared culture we have as Mustang owners, and also a new realization that just by driving my Saleen around, its like a ticket to meet some of these people.  I wouldn't have been pulled over and shown that awesome car collection if I owned a Yugo.

Cheers,

Chuck

Cool story! Did you get any pictures of his collection (or his card so you can go back and ride in some of those beauties)?

Beautiful PJ's!
I have a big favor to ask.  I am building a Boss "tribute" on my '07 GT.  It's Grabber orange. lowered, Borla exhaust 18" wheels etc..
I am going to have my painter paint the "classic 70's boss paint scheme on the hood and sides.  My question is, however, how do you paint the rear trunk lid?  On your PJ's I'm assuming the paint line ends at the 90 deg. edge?  Can someone post detailed pics of the rear trunk on their PJ and how it is actually painted.  I never been able to find a good reference pic.
Really appreciate it.
Thanks.
Steve -

Like these??

That last one was just for fun...

It's a flat black paint that terminates at the curve on the back, but actually wraps around the sides and front, so from the bottom of the trunk you can make out a line of paint on the leading and side edges.

Hope this helps!  Check out another site around here devoted to grabber orange cars only, and you'll find a larger peer group.  For Saleen guys, this forum is the best though.

Good grief this is a long friggin thread!  OK, so I'm looking for a PJ owner (if he/she is on this board, surley he/she has posted on one of these 18 pages).  I am in Springboro OH (south of Dayton) and hardly ever see any other Saleens in town.  Yesterday I say a PJ heading North on RT48.  Does this sound like any of you PJ owners?  I would have chased him/her down, but I had to get my daughter to volleyball practice.  Let me know...

18 pages, over 15 thousand hits, and still going strong.....

I wondered if it would resurface without my help!  heheheh

Sal - good luck on yer search.  There are also a lot of PJ'ers on a grabber orange site somewhere's...   Not too hard to find.

This post is so long because I got my PJ pretty early ( one of the first few that I know of, mid Nov 2006) and posted often with updates, etc...

There was a lot of PJ hype around here and as you can see if you get a free half-day to read all of the above, there's some priceless posts from the likes of Amy, Jazzer, etc...  at one point the running joke was how much we could all post-whore to increase this thread.... good times.

Anyways, Welcome to Owens, with the low production #51!!  and matching print I might add!  I never sprang for that one... couldn't talk myself into it.

Welcome !!

Not to late.  There are about 8-10 prints left.  I wanted #100, but 91-100 are reseved for Parnelli and his friends.  I ended up ordering #84.  I have car #384 so there is some logic there.  I think 82-90 are left.

O.K. Ladies and Gents!!  The PJ is dumped!  I put the Eibach Sportlines on and all went well!  Here's some before and after shots:

Stock Saleen Ride Height

New Low Ridin' Look

Some more for good measure!!

These were taken the day of install, so it'll likely drop a little more after a while.  So far I'm VERY impressed with the look
and ride quality of the Sportlines.  It is a hefty drop.  I didn't even need the spring compressor installing the new springs due
to the shorter unsprung length.  I had ZERO issues with installation (a first...)  The rear was a little different with the Watt's link setup.
I had to stare at it for a while to decide exactly how much of it needed removed to drop the axle.  The entire job front and back took about an hour and a half using a buddy's tools and lift.

No rubbing issues on wheel lock.  Heck, the ride feels the same as the Saleen springs.  There is some extra 'harshness' on holes or bumps but I had this with the other springs also.  I highly recommend this spring setup with the 19 wheels on the PJ.

Cheers!

Chuck

Looks Fam Damtastic Chuck! Congrats on the new low stance.

And, um, just curious: so from now on, rather than ever starting a new thread, you're just going to add to this one? Just checking.
