As I live in the UK (therefore have no warranty) and drive a GT Vert (which is apparently not affected by the thunk - which is BS as my car with 42,000 miles has most definitely got it!!!) then I have to buy the parts myself
So put in an order with a dealer in Baltimore, where I am visiting this month, and the parts arrived in stock within 2 days - isn't it strange how quickly you can get the parts if you are willing to pay your own $$$
Verts are most definitely effected as you found out. Same mounts. Ford was rumered early on as saying that they were excluded when they thought the cross brace was fixing the problem. They started putting the brace on at the factory on 3/07 build Coupes and the thunk was still showing up soon after delivery like on mine.

Bought my pony 2 weeks ago and was just thinking about the clunk sound I've been getting around 35 mph and less. I then find this thread and everything just came together. Looks like I'll be printing the TSB an taking it with me for my first oil change.

As the Mustang is a US only car, then Ford will only honor warranties for cars that are in the US - they can get away with it legally.
I (and many other people) have challenged this - the best I have got is that if I bring the car back to the dealer in the US then they can assess any warranty work needing doing - guess it's like you guys, the dealer wouldn't give you parts without seeing the car - just that mine is 5,000 miles from my nearest dealer!

FYI: The upper end link loosens frequently. Mine did 1 month after getting the new mounts installed. If this is loose, you'll hear thunking/knocking whatever you want to call it.. coming from everywhere under the car. Much more annoying the just the thunk. See diagram below:
im an idiot and if someone could please take an actual picture from under the car of that endlink i would like to go and try to tighten it rather than go to the dealership and have to argue them to fix the weird noises coming from my front end.
the stock endlink looks like the silver colored one in the top picture and the placement of it is pictured in the second image. you have to put a wrench on the end of the bolt and use another wrench to tighten the nut. it's easier if you take the wheels off, but you also should have the suspension loaded. if you have ramps that may help, or put your jackstands under the a-arms. real fun.

I just brought the TSB into my local Ford Servie Dept. They said I need to make an appointment to have the car driven and then inspected up on a lift by a tech. before any parts are ordered. I have no idea what they expect to to see up a on a lift, but I made an appointment for this Friday. I don't really see what there could possibly be to debate over. Ford issued a TSB and had new upper strut mounts designed. Clearly, they wouldn't have had new parts designed if the old worked properly. My car has a build date of 04/07. I suppose it's possible Ford used the newly designed strut mounts on the late production '07's, but I seriously doubt it since the TSB was issued after my production date. I'll keep you posted.

yeah, i'd say unfortunately it's one of those 'smile and nod' deals. . . unless you wanted to find a new dealer which you might want to do anyways! depending on where you are, somebody on this thread may have suggestions for you if you want to ask! good luck. . .
i'd say the new mounts are 85% better, but i'm still not happy. i just bought a 1994 mustang gt with 158,000 miles on it and it's a dream to drive over bumps compared to the 07, a cream puff even. and it just has KYB GR2 shocks and Eibach Prokit progressive springs. i think despite the benefits of the newly designed suspension that in the future i may still get rid of those stupid Aarms and go with a Griggs or Maximum Motorsport front end. . . when the 07 is ready for the TRACK!!!!

[hijack] honestly Wolfey, I've realized in the last few months that i SUCK at tinkering on the car. i hurt myself every time and it takes me FOREVER to get stuff done, not to mention the lack of space and the right tools with which to tinker, not to mention the patience it takes GAWD. so....here's a plug for Springfield Motorsport in Lorton/Springfield, VA. they've done some work on the 1994 GT and are great folks. i have a feeling that i may as well have my paychecks wired directly to them over the coming months and years as the 94 is 'transformed' into a dedicated track car. . . with my sights on NASA's Camaro Mustang Challenge [see www.camaromustangchallenge.com]. I highly recommend checking out NASA [National Auto Sport Association] or SCCA or one of the local clubs that gets track days at the local road racing tracks. I'm terribly addicted!!!!!!

The TSB is just a document on how to address a particular problem IF it is present. It does not mean that you automatically get the new revised parts; only if your vehicle is affected. The tech still has to confirm the issue and then the TSB tells him (or her) how to address it. What sucks, nowadays anyway, is that if there is not a "TSB" on a particular problem then that problem simply does not exist in the minds of many dealers. They appear unwilling to take the time to try and figure out what is wrong and fix it...the "old fashioned" way. Instead, they give you "it's normal for this car." Man, customer service really has been in the crapper for far too long.

Technically this is true. However, in reality, I'm beginning to think that ALL of the S197s have this problem and some people either don't notice or it doesn't bother them. That's fine! If somebody in this very consumer savvy world has gone to the trouble of looking up the TSB and suffering through the noise, and taking off work to take the car in [a new car that probably shouldn't have the problem in the first place], the stupid look on some service writer's faces and the hassle given to people already upset is not necessary, professional, businesslike, or NICE. With Ford's future hanging in the balance anyways, this is not a good way to do things.

Has anyone in the Chicagoland area had this TSB performed? If so, please tell me the dealership that performed the service. This will be a big help.
I realize the TSB does not automatically entitle me to have the struts mounts swapped, but like you said, I've made a serious effort in making an appointment and bringing it to their attention by handing them the TSB.
The issue is "black and white" on all 2005-2006 Mustang coupes. There is no grey area. Ford had a new strut mount designed mid-year 2007. Like I said earlier, I suppose it's possible my 04/07 build date included the new strut mounts, but I highly doubt it based on all the low speed suspension noise I am hearing. Maybe their plan is to put it on a lift to verify the part number on my existing strut mounts.
