That one is correct. That link worked the other day. Must be something screwy going on.

I got this originally from Richmod, then emailed it to S tangnet to update their
TSB's.  Here's the link to their master list:

and here's the individual TSB07-18-02

Thanks for doing that. I'll update the link in my posts so that my puny little server space doesn't get overrun.

just talked with my local dealer. first they said they dont like to order parts unless the issue has been diagnosed by their techs, but when i gave him the TSB and informed him that i was a moderator on a mustang website with over 75,000 members and this was the single most dicussed topic with the 05+ cars i caught his attention. he checked into the TSB and went ahead and ordered the parts. once they arrive i will be bringing it in for repair.

i also made note of my dead battery issue i had once, and the fuel gauge bouncing down to E and then back up to where it should be. hopefully getting these problems on record now will increase my chances of repair if / when they happen again later (even if im out of warranty)

I ran into the same issue. My service writer guy went off of my info and ordered the parts. The service manage found out and was pissed. He wanted to unzip and show me who was boss, but he was only 5'3" tall so I declined. I have found out in my life, that it is the little fellows that usually have the loudest mouth and are always going around trying to prove themselves worthy, to themselves and everyone else.

Last week I took mine to the dealer for this issue, they had it 2 days and had 2 techs drive it. Of course they didn't find anything wrong. Hopefully the TSB will make a difference, thanks for posting it.

I got an 07 V6 stang aswell and I personally havent heard the thunking. Tho I havent been paying that close attention as the music is normally loud. You put a thought in my head tho, next time I go out Ill keep the music off and see if mine has that same noise. Oh do you know where I could purchase a cat back exhaust system? I saw you mentioned it earlier.

Picked up a new 07 4.6 with 180 delivery miles, heard the "chuckle", came here and found the fix. THANKS to all.  Ordered the parts on my dime and will install while I`m changing springs anyway.
For the $80 spent I get to skip any arguing with the service writer and I don`t have to find out whether the dealer tech is as fussy about black paint as I am.  Again, thanks to everyone who contributed to finding the solution.

Add me to the success stories.
I brought my car in to have the updated strut bearing installed and no more noise. From the time I ordered the parts and scheduled an appointment, a TSB was issued so they did the whole procedure (new fasteners, bracket of some sort).

A little history for ya. When I brought my car in with the noise they told me right off the bat "that's normal" and "it's a sport suspension" (no TSB at the time but I had the updated part number thanks to this site). When I told him about the new part number, he argued it wouldn't fix the problem as the noise wasn't related to that part. I debated with him a bit to no avail. Only way he would order the parts, was when I offered to pay for the repair out of pocket if the new bearings didn't fix the problem.

Special thanks to bascho for lending a hand.

Hey all.
I just checked MF's TSB link and it only goes up to 2006!
What's up with that?
There are TSB's out for 2007 including our latest thunking / chuckle TSB.

Just so everyone who hasn't heard the thunk yet knows, if your car doesn't have the chuckle and the dealer cannot verify the complaint, chances are they won't make the repair.
It's still primarily by complaint only even though there is a TSB out on it.
Complaints MUST be verified by a mechanic in order to authorise and perform repairs.
The thunking noise is not a safety issue, it's only cosmetic as far as Ford is concerned.
Sorry but that's the way it is.

Congrats to all the new non-thunker club members ;-). Welcome to the club!

thank god for the grass!!!!  i managed to keep it on the track MOST of the time

Took my Mustang to the dealership last week armed with all of this information and replacement part fix, and the service foreman did not hear any noise. My schedule hasn't allowed me to take off work and take a joy ride to point out something to a mechanic that is blatantly obvious. Everyone who has ridden in my car has hear the noise, but Northside Ford in San Antonio, TX sucks the big one.....never take your car there!

If I ordered and paid for the parts myself to avoid killing someone at a dealer, would anyone recommend a place that would be available to me in San Antonio to have it installed?  Thanks for all the research on this....just furious that my dealer is giving me the run around.

I've paid for a rental car out of my own pocket for an entire week for this problem that wasn't corrected, and I have 2 jobs with my only day off being Sunday when most dealers are closed.....so I can't afford to waste any more time with a dealer.

Anyone who has tried to get their dealer to repair the thunking problem and has failed, contact bascho on this thread 'try a page or two back' via PM and tell him you need his help.
He works for Ford and has a lot to do with the new part that is now available.
All you need to do is get the service managers name and phone number and pass it on to bascho and he will give them a call. He's been successful in getting those bozo's to do the repair under warranty.
Good luck!

i hear you man!  been there.  take a couple deep breaths.  you'll get it fixed eventually so just take a step back.

i also rented a car with my own money and went to three different dealers before i found one worth returning to.  it blows, but i guess it's the way it goes!  i've also gone to several "performance" shops with varied results.  i'd say first ask around [like you did] for a dealer in your "local" area that doesn't suck.  see if they'll work with you on pickup/dropoff to accomodate your schedule.  you never know you may be surprised to find decent people out there behind those service writer desks!!!

Well I went to the dealership Thursday morning and showed up about 1/2 hr late. They asked if i would go with the shop foreman for a test drive and to verify the concern! We didnt even get out of the dealership parking lot and (Clunk Clunk Clunk). The foreman was driving and i glanced over at him when I heard the noise. To my surprise, he said "Is that what you are talking about?". I said "yes". He continued on the test drive and explained to me that there have been many people at the dealership with the same concern, and i will be the first to have the repair done. He showed me the TSB (which i already had). He claims they just got it about 5 days ago! He said he will order the parts and give me a call when they come in! I will keep you all informed!

Strange but true..........

As I live in the UK (therefore have no warranty) and drive a GT Vert (which is apparently not affected by the thunk - which is BS as my car with 42,000 miles has most definitely got it!!!) then I have to buy the parts myself

So put in an order with a dealer in Baltimore, where I am visiting this month, and the parts arrived in stock within 2 days - isn't it strange how quickly you can get the parts if you are willing to pay your own $$$
