Hi, I was looking at buying some new rims for my 2006 V6 with the pony package, and right now the tires I have on (these are the stock tires it came with) are Pirelli's: "P235/55 ZR 17 98W M+S"
Some of the 17 inch rims I've been looking at for replacements say they're 9 inches wide, and specifically mention that this is wider that the stock rims on the new Mustangs. Does anyone know how wide the stock rims for the new Mustangs are? And assuming they're 8.5" (which seems to be the common number I'm hearing), can I mount my stock tires on a wider (say 9" or 10") rim? Will the stock tires that come with stock 8.5" rims fit onto 9" rims?
I HIGHLY doubt the factory rim is 8" wide. More like 17x7. If youre unsure, you can always take the wheel off of the car and look at the casting numbers (theyre on the inside face part of the rim). One of the numbers gives the size, itll say something like 17x7LL (or some bs like that). ALL aluminum rims from ALL manufacturers have it. And as for sizes, I mounted 2 295/50/15's on factory 10 hole 15X7 rims, had no problems mainly except it would rub around corners, that was when people were saying you cant fit anything wider than a 285 on a fox. -P.

Yeah, I went to Ford this morning to check how much their rims cost and the measurements for stock rims (with the pony upgrade, that is) are 17" x 8", and about $310 US a pop.
So any rim with a width between 7" - 8.5" should fit my 235/55-17's alright?
