I purchased some Bridgestone WS-50 225/55/16 used and the rears have 8/32 tread and fronts have 9/32. On tirerack it says the WS-50s have 55% tread tube multicell compound then the remaining 45% is regular snow tire compound. So one the rears I have 2/32 of Tube Multicell compound left and fronts have 3/32 left? What is so great about the Tube Multicell compound? Why is it better than the regular winter compound?

the multicell compound provides holes that trap water and essentially pull it away from the road surface to allow the tire to gain traction.

This compound is pretty soft and does wear away quicker than the other "normal" compound underneath.

Once it wears out will I notice a difference in the snow or is it mostly just for ice?

once the multi cell layers wears you will not have the same ice and snow grip. It will still be very good, just not great

OK, now how do the WS-50s compare to the Revo 1s? The Revos are new so there are not many reviews on them.

the revo's have replaced the ws-50's. They do better on packed snow and ice than the 50's

but don't you still carry the WS-50s? Also what is equivalent (or close to) a 225/55R16 Revo 1 because Revo 1 doesn't come in that size.

How do Revos compare to WS-50s on dry and wet pavement? Also why are the WS-50s being replaced, they got excellent reviews?

I don't know why bridgestone decided to do that. The ws50 are a little better in deep snow and the revos are a little better on ice and packed snow

So do you think WS-50s or Revo 1s are better for snow and ice, yet wear well on dry and wet pavement when there is no snow in the winter?

They will wear and handle about the same.

They do wear through the top compound faster than the bottom compound.
