Mabye a 96-99 v8 would be a good race with a svt contour but not no V6, no way in hell.  The is no position in which a stock V6 sho would lose to  a stock svt contour, low end,mid range, high end. even the automatics.

It doesn't matter its just to pass the time. My bad, I was missinformed about the SHO's. So they came with Yamaha V6's and V8's? Are they good engines?

Sorry if i sound rude.   And yes the V6 SHO motor is good, but the V8 has cam and crankshaft problems and were only mated to an automatic so they arnt too quick and they got heavier.  The V6 SHO is the only way to go.  I get over 30 mpg when not getting into it, and they are suppose to last for a little over 300,000 miles. Mine has 221,000 miles on it is bone stock still gets 30 mpg and I can still pull of mid 15s in the thing.  They are good cars except for the brakes.

Ya its pretty crazy. I love SHOs.  In high school me and like 3 other friends of mine all drove SHOs all differnt years, 89,90,91,92.  If you would like to learn a little more about the Taurus SHO visit http://www.shotimes.com/php-bin/

Most of those "STOCK" runs were slower than even 15's. What would will they run, I'm guessing that they don't know how to drive...cause they can go faster. RIGHT?

Most people I know could get them into the high 14s stock and new.  They were pretty fast for a 4 door family sedan. Back in 1989 it was the fastest sports sedan ever.  Pretty good for like no torque and alot of weight and front wheel drive!!!

Yes those times are as true as can be.  Some SHOs were known to dipping into the 14's stock.

SHO's are hellav cool sleepers.  I beat hondas, mazdas, 5.0s alot of things around where I live.  The only reason why its not that fast 1/4 mile is because 1 its heavy 2 its front wheel drive and 3 it uses a s**tty diff.  Once the SHO is rolling and hits second gear its all over for many cars. And the double over head cams help out with high end too.  they can go 140 mph in 4th gear.  If you get the chip you can rev it safely to 8500 rpms.

Well its really all about how you like your body style.  To me mine "a 92"  looks the best, 89-91 are 1st gen SHOs 92-95 2nd and the 96-99 3rd which are the V8, and which I do not suggest you buy.  They arnt as fast, they have 3 times as many problems as v6 SHOs, and right away you would spend alot more money on it vs the $2500-4000 for a v6 SHO. Also if someone is trying to sell a SHO for over $4000 you should really look into it.  Because they arnt worth that much money.  I mean in some ways they can be but you dont want to overpay for one and then see another for sale that was a grand less.  They can last about 300,000 miles which is really good, if they are taken care of.  If you are really into buying a SHO visit these web sites.  They will help and tell you everything you will ever need to know about a Taurus SHO:  The motor was made for the 1989 sports car the SHOGUN.  Which could hit 12 second 1/4 miles with only 220 horsepower.

All of the V6 SHOs are capable of 0-60 in under 7 seconds if they are a 5 speed manual. 1989-1995.  You choose best year they are all the same basicly.

The cars are pretty reliable besides the break problem that they have.  Pretty much everything about a SHO is cool but be carefull with shifting too hard.  When motor mounts are needed get the reinforced ones for sure and dont get a stock clutch. And have you seen what the motors look like yet ?
