I have only seen one charger srt-8 running 13.4(  I ran a 13.0 next to him), I have seen r/t run 14.3-14.6. The Srt-8 are no slouches, but nothin that a intake and tune can't take care of.

I think a lot of people don't realize the difference the 5.7 L Hemi and the 6.1 L Hemi. The R/T Chargers and the Daytonas (Yellow with black, Orange with black, and Red with black) have the 5.7 L Hemi with 340 HP. It's the SRT8's that have the 6.1 with 425 HP.

Not quite right.  Here is a 6.1L yellow & black SRT-8

Edit: is the [img] code not working anymore?  I cant even get right click "paste" to come up.
Edit #9: Thats weird, it made me post from IE to get the picture to come up, even typing in the code.

Sorry... forgot to write about the Superbee. There are only 4 color options for the SRT8's. Black, Silver, Red, and the limited production Superbee which you can see above. Only 1000 made. That's pretty rare. The Daytona that is yellow looks pretty similar. However, it has no hood scoop and is on 18" wheels. I think a lot of people think the Daytona's are SRT8's and that is where the confusion comes in.

Another reason you can't say "well my mustang gt costs 12k cheaper and if i put that into my gt it'd beat an srt8" is because there is so much more to the srt8 than just being faster on a straightaway. See if you can use that 12k to install better suspension, Brembo 4 piston brakes, heated seats, dual climate control, GPS navigation, in dash computer system that gives you readout of all kinds of high tech information (half of which i have no idea what it is), UConnect handfree Bluetooth, autostick, the high quality ESP system, leather w/suede insert racing seats that hold you in your seat (test drove an '06 GT and was sliding out of my seat on turns. probably just used to my SRT8's seats though.), etc, and on top of that still making it faster. It's so much more than just being faster.

Most of those options are crap to me thats why I bought a TRUE MUSCLECAR and not some german import with a dodge badge on it.

Basically Mustang is one peace of s...t, suspension is bad, the car rattles and whines etc.

Well you know what opinions are like....

too bad Dodge and Chevy were and are scrambling to put product out there to match up against that 'peace of s**t.......'

Those Dodge Chargers are an insult to the legend of the Dodge Charger!
It is a sedan and not a muscle car it just has a powerful engine.
Looks to me like someone got the genetics for that car from the infamous Checker Marathon..... Let's compare them-

Looks pretty close to me!

Here is some video of one of those SRT8 station wagons (all stock) trying to break in to the thirteens on a hot day. His best time was 14.1 seconds.
So on an optimally cool day he might have gotten a 13.6-13.5 but I would be hard-pressed to see these giant station wagons hit a 13.02 time.

I'd trade the GT even-steven for a Charger w/Daytona package right now. I got the GT because it was much cheaper. The Charger had some of the best seats I've ever sat in.

Stock GTs would be mid 14s on that day then.  SRT-8s are in a different perfomance league than the GT.  On par with a stock Terminator Cobra.  And on a traction limited night, a GT500 was .3 seconds faster than me.

At Grattan the SRT-8 on F1s BEAT the GT500.  At VIR, the GT500 was 7.2 seconds ahead of an RSA equipped SRT-8.  The stock GT 2.7 seconds behind that.   Put the no-cost F1s back on and the SRT-8 would be running with the 350Z, 1.5 seconds behind the GT500.

u gotta remember its a 4-door boat lol

Yeah, no doubt the SRT8 Charger's have a high HP number, but it is lugging around quite a bit more weight than our stallions. I test drove one while I was looking for my new car, and I was VERY impressed with it. Lots of creature comforts, a NICE gearbox, and fairly quick to boot. It's a serious hybrid car. (when I say "hybrid", I mean hybrid muscle/luxury car. Not my cup of tea, but a nice car none-the-less.) But as fast as us? Not a chance.

There was a guy with a SRT8 trolling this forum awhile back. If he sees this thread I have no doubt he'll be back to put his .02 cents in.

No kidin man.  I think he put in about a buck fifty!  Must be the four door's on that boat that make him crazy!  Plus the car is just plain ugly all day.

Takin from a random sig at chargerforums.com
CHARGER SRT8 BLACK
13.4 / 104 mph Stock
Taken from a random sig here
Best Time: 13.43@102.38mph with 1.95 60' Stock

Sounds close to me.  All a drivers race imo. As far as the 1/4 mile goes.  But as menioned, apples to oranges.

Personally, I'm glad that Dodge Chargers (SRT-8s or even Daytonas) aren't a slouch in their performance.  At least the power is there even if 2 doors aren't.  In fact, if I could have afforded a Charger Daytona (dreams of an SRT-8), I would have purchased that instead of my Grabber Orange GT.

The price difference might allow a GT owner to SC or Turbo his way faster than a Charger, but I don't think any amount of $$ will let a Mustang seat 5 comfortably with all the ammenities many buyers expect.  I consider the Charger a sports sedan, and I can't think of any other "American" car that comes close to doing what it does.

I guess I'm getting old in my 28 years with 2 kids.

str-8 has higher power to weight ratio and they are all autos so the driver really DOESN'T matter. To pull those mid 13's #'s you need a good driver and power shifting.

My 13.43 came about because well, I'm a good driver who doesn't powershift... Doodad has run a 13.42 or something like that, not powershifting. (he'll correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he said he didn't)... maybe we're all smoking the ganja...

The SRT-8 is quicker with both in stock trim. My dad has an SRT and I have a GT the SRT may be a little slower off the line but only due to traction problems. My Mustang is an auto and wants no part of the SRT from 3rd on. Now I did add a saleen S/C which has run a 11.52 so dad better visit GS motorsports if he wants to keep up.

Find the random sig. with a 12.56@111mph.  Sampling one signature from hundreds of posted times?
Not even CLOSE in the 1/4.  Go race R/Ts, that is your competition (stock, that is).

Ugly? Sure it is to some.  So are fake hood scoops and large wheel well gaps.  Most aggressive looking 4door on the road.  I've got more ammo but I have to acknowledge a bias towards Mustangs on a Mustang site!

Im sure theres some.  But the majority I seen post time slips were 13.2-13.6
Not trying to knock the ride. no doubt the SRT8 is fast.
No reason to say the R/T is my competition, because Ill smoke em :)

Ok, I am a Charger owner and I was curious to see what the Ford folks were saying about Dodge's Real American Muscle so I popped in and did a search. I am flabbergasted at the uneducated remarks made by Mustang owners towards the Charger.

The real point is not the speed but the fact that the Charger handles 10 times better as it is built on a MERCEDES platform. Can you say that about a 'Stang? Nope! Also the Charger offers a BIG HEMI 6.1 V8 that will smoke any 'Stang on the track easily. I opted for the V6 and upgraded to the SRT Appearance Package just because I want better gas mileage and do not Street Race or go to the track. However, I would still rather drive the SRT6 Charger than ANY Mustang built.

Charger handles 10 times better than a current generation Mustang with a Hemi that will smoke any Stang on the track.. WOW you must visit different tracks and use different math, maybe yet another "new" math perhaps. I have yet to see this almighty "Hemi" smoke any Mustang, on the street or at the track. Are they selling this monster to different states or something? Are the ones in the Chicago area minus a cyl or something, perhaps the driver doesn't know how to press his automatic to the floor or something... I've raced a few of these cars, while they weren't slow they sure weren't faster or scary or anything like that.

As for highlighting MERCEDES you can dress a turd in something pretty and it's still a turd, while the SRT8 isn't a turd, it sure as hell ain't all that and a bag of chips, my business partner HATES his Mercedes because it rattles and wasn't worth the 80k he paid for it and Mercedes reliability isn't something to brag about either... so go back to Charger.com or where ever you dug yourself up from and love your 6 popper from there since you lacked the balls to buy the real deal that you're sucking the tit of...

Just to put one in the mustang court. I had a SRT call me out at the track of course he didn't know about the S/C on my car. But he also had a little surprise in the form of a 75 shot. He actually pulled me a little on the big end but he was to late. The Mustang hurt his feelings.
