ORIGINAL: TurboMustang Question(s)- For TurboKits 1.) How would replacing the stock exhaust manifolds with an aftermarket shorty headers work with this kit? It seems to me that it would work well, possibly help the turbo spool faster; as long as the shorty headers mated with the stock cat back to maintaing the Cats. Matt is correct here, as long as they keep the stock manifold mounting points & clearances they should fit. quote:
ORIGINAL: TurboMustang 2.) What compression ratio would you recomend if forged internals were installed to reap the best possible gains and performance? This depends on your HP goals... If you plan on running low boost, say under 15 PSI, then stick with stock compression, the higher the piston CR the more HP / PSI you gain. If you plan on turning up the wick for high HP, then low compression is a better choice. quote:
ORIGINAL: TurboMustang Question- for turbokits and/or Mattblasi and other Kit owners 1.) How does this kit sound? I LOVE the sound of turbo's spooling up real loud (like a jet engine) and then a huge rush of air from the B.O.V (not a squeak). My Buddy has an HKS SSQV B.O.V on his Nissan 240sx S13 (Silvia engine swap) and I love its sound. Matt is correct here, since the stang runs a MASS AIR SENSOR you have to recirculate the BOV or you will have drivability issues. There are ways around this, but it would require tuning and a change in the MASS AIR SENSOR location. You should however hear the turbo spool, especially at part throttle where the exhaust isn't so loud yet. Hope this helps... TurboKits.com

ORIGINAL: TurboMustang Matt, How does your exhaust sound with the kit? Does it lose any of the V8 rumble since it splits off from one to two pipes via the y-pipe? It dose and dose not. The cars has a quieter purr when idleing and cruising down the street, pretty much a little louder than stock. When you lay into it though it really opens up. I honestly like that fact too, unless I get on the gas it is quiet and docile, but when it needs to be a monster it is =) Yep, another benefit of a Turbocharger vs other power adders...

TurboKits.com Another question, My budy who i mentioned before has explained the difference between a BOV that recirculates and one that vents to the atmosphere. I'd ask him but hes busy at training for Mercedes Benz ( ), so waht is the differnce other than the obviouse (it blows off the back pressure intake air into the intake tube), how does this create drivability issues? Long answers are welcome, knolwedge is good!

OK cool, simpler than I thought, and that makes perfect sense.

Hey, Jesse, I'm sitting here at work wasting time/dreaming .. I was looking at turbonetics website and install directions, the kit looks like it has changed some?? The BOV vents to the atmosphere now and the inlet pipe looks totally different and also looks like the stock radiator cover can't be put back on... are these changes for all years or just the '07 kit? Just wondering, thanks!
