I have a 97 GT with few mods. On my way home last night, about 1ish, i saw 2 cars run up behind me and eventually pass me. I have about a two mile strip of highway on 90 in texas. well i let them go for a few seconds (my girlfriend was in the car so i was reluctant to push it) but within a matter of seconds i downshifted to fourth and punched it about a quarter of the way through the riverbottom. i caught up with them at about 90 and they started pushing it. where i was at was only a 2 lane and they were in both lanes. they were a honda crx and a hundai tiburon gt. Well i kept riding their ass at about 105 (my speedos off about 2 mph at 40 so it was more) and eventually the crx got out of my way. after the the Gt kept rolling beside me until i floored the 5th and smoked them both. it made me laugh. What my me laugh more is the fact that they got back to me at a red light down the road. We're in the city now and theres a bike rally going on, so i know there are cops around. Well they both started revving their engines and lining up... even though the wear over the white line before the light turned green, and sped off. Although half the ricers i toy with i laugh at. They think they got what it takes to mess with a v8. there are a few im quite worried about. but rev your engine and ill probably call you on it. Well this adds to my list of wins. I want to race something spiffy that has a good driver. I suck at driving in my Opinion. I dont know my hp but my next check goes towards a dyno testing.

That dyno ought to bring you back to reality.

You'll be lucky to break 200 rwhp...

Well I assumed when you said "a few mods," you meant minor bolt-on's... my mistake.

What do you have done to your car?

Not with "a few mods" you're not. That's around 280-290 net hp

I bought the car from a dealership (with mods done to it) last december as my first car. ill be 18 when i celebrate our first anneversary :p but it had a 65 mm throttle body. i put a 75mm BBK. The car has had a Nitrous system and a supercharger on it. I didnt notice the Nos till the other day when i saw the wholes in my trunk carpet. I lifted it up to find welded mounts that had been grinded off and a whole cut in the carpet in front ot the gas tank hose or whatever. I DO NOT know much about cars. But I'm really trying to learn. Ive loved classics since, well, forever and i kinda aspire to be able to do my most of my own car work myself. but other than noticable stuff under the hood i dont know. It has aftermarket wiring and headlights. and cobra rims. it had dumps on it but the exhaust fumes were killing me so my dad had it tipped. it has the tri-ax shifter with a B&M handle. Theres also a hole cut in the driver side carpet right beside the door in front of the seat and i dont have a clue why. and it has a k&N air filter with stock intake. I want to have my engine rebuilt and tuned and figure out what (if anything) internal mods have been done.

The car HAD a supercharger and nitrous? I'm not clear on if you are saying that you have a supercharger, or you HAD a supercharger?

If you do in fact have a supercharger, you are probably pushing more than 250 hp...

If you don't, you're only hope of being anywhere near 250 hp is if your car has been PI swapped.

So it has nitrous, a supercharger AND the stock intake with a k&N on it??!!? IF you had nitrous and a supercharger i would be hoping for a little more than 250HP

you bought a used car that had both a supercharger and nitrous on it at one point? i hope YOU didn't actually pay for it. buying a used car with miles is one thing, cause you don't know how well it was maintained. buying a used car that had multiple owners and has put not 1, but 2 different types of forced induction is another.

oh, and you'll need full boltons to get to past that 200RWHP mark.

There seems to be too many holes in this story, IMO. Things forgotten in the story. A stock Mustang could probably beat out a CRX and a Tiburon, there's nothing really special to them. No one knows what mods, if any were on these cars. Not to mention that 5th gear is overdrive and has pretty much squat for torque and hp to "smoke" anything.

Once sentence you mention that you have to get it to a dyno b/c you don't know what you're pushing, then in another post you say that you're pushing upwards of 250 rwhp.

I've beat little ricers in my 2001 Olds Aurora 4.0, which only had 250hp, and it kept up nicely with some dumbass driving a vert 2005 Mustang GT. It's all in how you drive, but compete in your own class.

Yeah,my first Mustang was a '98 GT,and comparred to my first car,a '88 V6 T bird with 200k mi on it,it felt pretty fast, but that feeling didn't last very long and I traded it for a '00 GT,which in turn got traded in for the Cobra.Although with it's power limitations, being my first 'stang,I still have fond memories of that car.

First, nice kills.

Next, while yes, the SN95s are dogs, they can be modded fairly nicely. I do question about the 5th gear pull. That gear is really bad for racing. THe Tibbies are ridiculously slow though. ( I dont say the CRXs are slow because the only one that I raced was a turbo one that sprayed and it walked me hahahaha)

Nanaki, I dynoed 209 RWHP on a 100 degree day w/ only the mods in my sig. THis was a N/A pull too. If I am not mistaken, New edges do about 235ish to the wheels. I would submit that a well driven SN95 can definitely make up for the 25ish hp deficit. A New edge Vert or whatever is game. I have actually proven so on multiple occasions. Yes, the hp is an advantage but w/ some mods(gears helped me out a lot), they are back in the game.

P.S. No, I dont want to run your blown GT hahahahaha I know my place on the food chain.

This thread amuses me. Labeling an asian car a "Ricer" just because of it's origin and then bragging about you beating them when you yourself only have around 250hp is pretty funny. Ontop of that it was a CRX and a Tiburon. LoL kinda makes you wonder what's the proper label to give the 90% of the OTHER Asian cars out there that are faster than you.
Sorry for the rant, I just don't understand why so little respect & discrimination for other cars just because they are made in a different country and have smaller(most of the time) powerplants. In the end they all work the same way and share the same purpose. Why can't we all learn to appreciate other peoples rides?

Maybe I'm cinicle about stuff on the internet. :o He's not sure about the mods on the car, there aren't really any details about the cars he's raced, claims the HP is upwards of 250rwhp, but then has never dyno'd it or is just going by what the dealership told him. To be honest, I find most dealerships don't know squat about cars, especially when it's a Chev dealership selling a Ford. But that's just my opinion.

At 17 though, I think he needs a little more experience driving before he starts racing cars and before he wraps himself around a lamp post. I don't think V8s should be sold to people so young... I'm 31 and I have to fight the urge to drop the clutch and just drive mine like nothing else. :o

Ricers are labeled b/c of how the car looks, not where it's made. There is a considerable majority of Civics, Acuras, etc which have large wings, fartcan exhausts are are all looks and no go. Those are ricers.

IMO, large erector set wings on FWD cars are useless.

true.. the more correct term for us would be RiceBurner aka an asian marketed car lol.. "Ricer" is an homo with a stock 93 dodge shadow with a body kit & 3ft aluminum wing thinking its fast **** lol

I totally agree with the term being used in that sense. But it's being overused and it's losing it's true meaning when I see people calling just ANY Japanese car a Ricer. It's just stupid.
I will disagree with you on the wing subject. Being RWD, AWD, or FWD doesn't have anything to do with wether you need downforce or not.

now if i were to see this [IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v651/camzaro28/91_Honda_Civic_DX.jpg[ i would be like " hey a civic"

now if i were to see this [IMG][[IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v651/camzaro28/ricer.jpg[IMG][ i would be like " haha, damn ricer"

The point of those wings was to give downforce to the rear tires so they don't spin. There's no purpose on a FWD car except to make it look ricey.

I really don't think 90% is quite right, sorry but even a NPI GT will out run way more than 10% of jap cars stock for stock. Now as far as appreciating other peoples cars, take Civic4doorsleepers car.I don't care for Hondas, but I can appreciate and respect his car because it's fast as hell and looks very plain,a very good thing IMO.Now take another Civic with a fart can, huge carbon fiber wing, neons, vinyls and stickers everywhere, huge 5in tach,400lb of audio crap and tv's,a 16-17second 1/4 mile time, and a owner with his hat cocked, sideways talking sh_t,and you will get absolutly no respect or appreciation from me,sorry nothing there for me too appreciate, and around here, the assclowns are the majority. However sh_t is sh_t and it doesn't matter what the car is,I've seen plenty of 'stang rice too.
