Saleen has their own values listed in nada. Roush does not. So you know what your car is worth according to the atomotive industry....exactly the same price a GT. Im going to about 2x VALUE out my car, then you will... this is do to the fact that you paid 2x as much as I did.... I did not say that my car is worth more than yours in terms of final sale price... it's worth more in that I paid less and gets more money comparativly..
and I could show you were you could get a 2.6 and forged internals for 7500.... but now I don't like you - besides your rich right?

I peronally don't want the guy to be banned - I just want him to stop the nonsense and post worth-while stuff. This whole topic has been blown WAY out of proportion. It all started with a simple question about where to place the bumper number on a clone, to which several of us replied (without hate, or flames or whatever) that it shouldn't be done. But if you go back to page one I clearly gave friendly advice on what number to use if he really wanted to. Nobody hated, flamed, called him out about immitation cars, nobody brought up money, power, speed, penis size or anything derogatory.
The bottom line is it doesn't matter what you drive, what kind of house you live in, how much money you make, how smart you think you are compared to others - all the matters is that you bought/drive what you wanted
So I'll ask agian in the spirit of what this website is all about - MUSTANGS - stop the nonsense fellas (or fella as it appears), and lets just all get along for piss sakes.

Just remember that this section is primarily visited by Saleen & Roush enthusiasts that take as much pride in their investments as have you in your DIY ride. I might on a v6 but atleast i can full understand the make-up and value of my car, before and after i dish out my cash. ya my v6 is slow for the rest of this week... Supersix Motorsports has a nice little Long Rod 3.8 Crate with my name on it. now plz explain to me how your 20k spent on tryin to clone pretty much the king of reasonably priced mustangs, is gonna compare to a 550hp V6. Im not sayin my car will be worth more than a TRUE saleen, but atleast im not tryin to copy anothers car. In pure honesty you couldnt pay me to take a clone. Hell id probably sell my car, my motorcycles, my gf, and maybe my mother for a Saleen but its not gonna happin.

What you don't understand about VALUE is all the money you put into your car is lost. Look at what market value is on your car then add up all your receipts and try and ask that price for your car. people will laugh at you. Like i said i've been building mustangs for 17 years. I have never made a dime on any of my cars and have lost thousands in aftermarket parts. I don't care if you have a clone, not one bit. did a little math for you. Comparing my car to a cloned base model roush stage 1 with simular options as my car. 2000 saleen s281 sticker price 36k. Which means since i paid 2x as much as you according to you that comes out to be 18k for your car. Ok let the math lesson begin. these #'s are from roush's website some are rounded up and some are rounded down and don't include tax: Boby kit: 900 Wheel: 2000 tires: 500 dash: 400 shifter: 200 suspension: 1600 Not sure about this one but even if its half that the point will still be made. CAI: 200 Exhaust: 900 computer tuning: 400 (a guess based on buying a hand help tuner)
total 7100 in parts. and doesn't include the little things like sticker kits, floormats, the tool kit, my 3.55 gear and guage pod options. Average MSRP for a 2000 gt with simular options as mine, leather, power everything, etc is 24k your at $31100. So if paid someone to install all said parts figure $2k for a good body shop to do paint and intall of the bodykit. And about another 1k to install the rest but since you can do it yourself i'm sure, i won't add that in. So your at 33100.00 invested in the car. Some how when i put that into a calculator thats not half of 36,000. Now. I'm sure you have more in your car than i have listed so this is not comparing your exact car to mine but instead showing you that you do not in fact come out ahead because the clone i just built in this little example will sell today for a lot less than my saleen. So in fact we would basically break even. The money you saved on your intial investment is a short term advantage and eventually i'll pass you because your car will depreciate at a faster rate than mine. I'm not even arging over the fact you say you have a roush, I DON"T CARE. Im arguing that some how you can look at these #'s and say that your car is "worth more in that I paid less and gets more money comparativly.. " WHERE? Where do you get more money out of your investment than mine? The car i discribed above would probably sell for 14-15K. So if i get at least 18k for my car where is this roush clone coming out ahead? Comparative is my car new was 36k and your gt new plus all roush stage one pieces is over 33K. Thats the initial comparision of 2 equally modified cars one DIY and one by saleen. The rest of the comparisions are determined by the market value of the cars 6 years later as indicated in NADA used car prices. Now a stock 2000 gt NADA's at around 11k and my saleen about 19k. Yes you can ask over NADA of the GT because it has some aftermarket peices on it. But you only got 7K in aftermarket parts that are now 6 years old. How much do you really think someone is going to give you. I'm sorry you cant see the facts right in front of you. I've made my point, good luck with the car.

You CANNOT build a clone for half of what a real Saleen costs. That is, if you use the same starting baseline for both vehicles.
I know- its the first thing I looked in to.
By the time you add the body kit, interior pieces, suspension, wheels, tires, exhaust, labor to paint and install everything, you are within 5K of buying a new Saleen right off the lot.
Your clone won't have any more value than a stock GT.If your lucky- you can recoup a little bit back, but not much.

Im being friendly and informative. I'm trying to prepare this guy for a rude awakening when he tries to sell his GT for $25k and can't figure out why noone is interested. I've seen guys dump 30k in parts in a car and struggle to sell it for 25k. The car building habit is as bad a crack, spend a butt load of money to get a quick high and in the end your just wasting money.
