I figured I'd post up here since I spend a lot of time on the street / strip section.
I'm putting up for sale a very unique STi with a lot of power and a lot of potential to become a record breaker. I'm letting this go because I have complete ADD when it comes to car interests and am making the switch eventually over to the big American V8 world. I'll also be purchasing a house within the next year, so I'm looking to downsize a little bit.
Anyway, here are the details. It's a 2004 WRB STi with about 34,000 on the chassis and roughly 3,000 miles on the new motor. Here's a list of all of the modifications: GT Motorsports custom built 2.8L race longblock - USDM STi EJ25 bored to 2.8L, forged internals, knife-edged crankshaft, titanium valve springs / retainers, race bearings, stage 4 headwork, 14mm head studs (bigger than ARP) to allow 60psi+ of boost, Cosworth 272 cams, etc. etc. etc. Cusco motor / tranny mounts Ultimate Racing's GT35R kit (.82a/r) - rotated turbo, uppipe, full custom turboback, 3" all the way through Tial 44mm wastegate External dump tube Modified flow-tested and matched 850cc injectors Walbro 255 fuel pump TurboXS High Performance MBC TurboXS FMIC w/ custom routed / welded pipes HKS super sequential BOV Blow through MAF setup Custom 4" turbo inlet Hydra standalone EMS w/ the wideband Exedy stage 4 twin-plate clutch (very strong and very streetable) Tein Flex coilovers with EDFC Powerslot slotted rotors Hawk HPS pads Goodridge SS lines w/ Motul 5.1 fluid inside (rotors / pads have been seated correctly, this setup does not vibrate or bump at all during hard braking) Kartboy short throw shifter w/ bushings TurboXS DTEC w/ boost & EGT gauges currently set up OEM boost gauge Touch screen hooked up to a mini-ITX PC running Windows, wired keyboard, wireless internet capability, datalogging, ITunes, etc. (this may be able to be hooked into the Hydra, I haven't tried yet though) Sony Xplod head unit Boston Acoustics / Rockford Fosgate component speakers in the front and rear 10" Alpine Type R sub in a custom enclosure by EvolutionAuto Orion 600W amp S203 hazard button =P OEM carbon fiber interior trim STi aluminum billet shifter trim STi type RA badges Clifford car alarm w/ motion sensor, carbon fiber keychain w/ disturbance detection, etc. Hella Supertones OEM auto-dimming compass mirror Chargespeed V2 front and rear bumpers OEM WRX sideskirts with OEM strakes and JDM aeroguards Stock BBS rims minus centercaps painted black w/ Hankook winter tires (no, I still haven't switched those out haha) I'm sure there are some other minor things, but that's the majority.
On pump gas it put down 458awhp / 402 ft.lbs. and on 110 leaded it created 565awhp / 511 ft.lbs. This setup was only limited by the fuel system. The turbo is capable of more power and the block, I was told by Sam (president of GT Motorsports) was built for 800awhp. With a larger fuel system or a Hydramist setup (easy to do, plug and play with the Hydra), this car could be even more ridiculous. All of the motor and clutch work was performed by the guys at Andrewtech Automotive in Gaithersburg, MD and the car was tuned by Phil from Element Tuning. This is currently the highest horsepower car to leave Andrew's shop.
The motor was broken in properly by both me and the guys at Andrewtech and has been cared for since its birth. It runs very well, and burns surprisingly little oil for a loosely built, high boost capable motor. It also idles great despite the cams, thanks to the Hydra. I have all of my receipts for the build if the buyer would be interested in seeing them. As long as it has been in my hands, it has never seen a strip or track and has not been launched since the build was complete. There are a few dings and scratches on the exterior typical of a car that's a couple years old. The interior is in good shape, also with a couple of scratches here and there.
Potential buyers should know two important things. First, this car is extremely loud. I somehow have yet to get an exhaust ticket for it, but if this is a concern where you live you may want to swap catbacks with someone. The best way I can describe it is that it sounds like a Cesna airplane at WOT and rumbles like a monster at idle. That's an easy item to fix. Second, this car will never pass emissions. Mainly because of the Hydra, but also because the exhaust is completely catless, not to mention the external dump tube, open PCV system, etc. You will need to find a way around emissions testing, but don't waste my time if this is going to be an unavoidable problem for you.
It goes without saying how much money, time, and energy went into this car. In my opinion, its unique nature (there are very few 2.8L STis in the states of this build level and quality) makes it magazine worthy, with some attention to a few nitpicky things. I personally do not have the time nor desire to do it, but it's something the potential buyer may want to consider. This car turns heads everywhere I go and gets plenty of thumbs up from both import and domestic guys. This would also make an EXTREMELY fun track car with a slightly more aggressive brake setup and a couple other mild modifications. Anyone who has ridden in it can attest for its power and smoothness, even on the pump gas map.
The purchase price of this car is $35,000. I won't return emails or phone messages regarding lowballing. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by PM or email me at lee.semmes@gmail.com
