So, I got a new battery, BRAND NEW, and well it was fine. Then I left my glove box open all night one night and my car started up. But with not as much power as it did brand new. Well about a week later, last night it died on me. We got out the tester and everything seemed fine. So we charged it for about 25 minutes before I went to work and it started up but again with not as much power. I mean it hesitates not instant like a full charge battery.

Should we check for lose connections? Or what? My dad knows what we should look for, but maybe something we don't know you guys do. So give me suggestions haha.

Hey Jake.....We created this sub section just for you, so now you can brag that you have your very own Mustang Forums section.

What you need to do is to get a charger that has the ability to put out 2 amps as well as 6. Put the charger on 2 amps and let it charge all night. It needs a deep charge, and 25 minutes is not enough time to get all the cells deep charged. It's referred to as trickle charging.

Haha, I like that first part. I'm cool and Special, hopefully this Section alone will bring more Mustang II owners to this forum.

But yea, I will try to charge it all night and hopefully that works. Thats helps alot, i think thats something I can do my self too! haha.

Hopefully, given time, this section will grow. In the meantime, post your questions here, and if you don't get any responses, post it in the Classic section too. Hey, a 302 is a 302 no matter which car it is in.

Yea good point.

I charged it all night on 2 amps, hopefully it gets a realllyl good charge and won't ****aki out on me.

if you turn off all accesories on the car and leave the ke in the off poshision you can unplug the ground terminal on the battery and tun a amp meeter from the ground of the battery to the cable and se how many you get. if it is more than like .6 you have a proublm

We figured it out. When we moved the battery to the back of the car, we had to splice the wires so we could get enough fire. We think that something went wrong there so we are going to buy new wire thats long enough.

Here's some food for thought also, the LONGER the cables, the more resistance you have to deal with, especially in cooler weather. BUT witha good charge, you shouldn't be able to tell the difference until one cold morning/evening.

On some batteries if you charge on 2 amp, it won't charge....and the resistance between 2 feet of conductor and 12 feet of conductor is probably less than a 1/4 of an ohm.

You may be right, but I have found that my trickle charger set at 1 ampwill keep my 12 volt battery charged at full strength while it is stored during the winter.

That'd be a high internal resistance batter. Stick with a low internal resistance battery like an Optima and you won't have too many problems (as long as you don't let it get low and expect your charging system to survive, anyway).
