However, I think that if I want to do thir right - I might as well do the internal stuff frist and then go with all the external goodies.  Any suggestions?

Thnks

Cleveland heads are very efficient, I wouldnt worry with heads at the moment... you have to consider the performance diff vs the cost.  A different cam will will make the biggest difference in hp, but to take best advantage of it it is best to upgrade your intake and exhaust systems.  A performer RPM package with cam/carb/intake is a great way to get good performance for minimal dollar.  Summit and Jeg's usually have good deals on those.  And dont forget about headers and a good exhaust.  With a 351C that setup could easily get you 400hp at the flywheel.

I have a 351 Windsor - not a Cleavland,  However, I hear you on the cost diff.  I am looking to spend 2k-3K on the engine."Big

not going to a stocker you should make that 3k with no problem...though invest in a good set on aluminum heads and 1.7 rockers

these heads do 2 things flow better and well save you around 50 pounds on the front end so with the wt thing it's already .05-.10 faster
