I ordered an '07 Mustang GT Coupe today. I'm looking to put 20' American Racing Rogue (black) in the car. Is the 20X8.5 Front and 20x10 rear and 255/35-20 ft and 275/35-20 rear the best size to go with? Is there a wider rear tire that won't rub or are these sizes the safest bet? I eventually may lower the car 1-2".

275/35-20 is the widest we recommend in the rear. It may be possible to get a wider tire but then you run the risk of possible clearance issues especially since you are thinking of lowering the car. That size is 27.5" in diameter which is already larger than stock by a little bit. I don't think that width would be as much of an issue since there is usually a lot of room in the rear of mustangs.

The 255/35-20 would be a good size for the front.

Colin, when Tire Rack offers to mount/balance, what method do they use to balance the wheel? Are wheel weights only mounted on the inside of the wheel? Could you explain? Also, what is the correct wheel backspacing for the '07 Mustang?

Thnx

We use road force balancing.

The weights are stuck on the inside of wheel.

I don't know what the backspacing for the stock wheel is. The american racing rogue 20 x 8.5 has a backspacking of 6.10" and 20 x 10 has a backspacing of 7.07"

in what way does it hurt car performance and how by putting larger tires? I'm clueless on this aspect and in wheels and tires in general.

As long as the tires do not rub and they are about the same overall diameter as what came on the car there should not be any issues.

I just ordered an 07'GT and will be recieving it in about two weeks.I am planning on lowering it 1-1/2 inches and use 20'' rims. What i would like too know is what is the widest rim i could fit in the back.I know u recommended 20x10 with 35 series tires with 7.07 inches of back spacing but I want to order rims with custom backspacing and offset.Would it be posible to run a 10.5" rims with custom backspacing and if so could i get backspacing mesurments?? Any help would be great its hard to find a shop that really knows this stuff.

We don't offer custom applications for your vehicle so unfortunately I cannot say what configuration would work. A reputable custom wheel shop should know exactly what would fit and give you the widest wheel possible without clearance issues.
