Default The X-pipe. How bad is it?

I recently ordered an X-pipe for my '05 V6. I had heard that they are more efficient than the H, so it seemed like a no brainer. Now, I'm reading that the X-pipe creates a harmonic noise and a higher piched exhaust note. I don't like the "ricer sound" and would be very dissapointed if my car sounded like that. I am going to be using new GT take off mufflers. Have I made a mistake? Or , am I making a big deal out of nothing?

I had the magnaflow trux, had to have it welded in. No issues with it at all. That was back when I was NA and sipping the juice.

Default RE: The X-pipe. How bad is it?

I just got the X-pipe installed with a Ford mid-pipe and a set of GT take offs. It sounds great. Couldn't be happier. No drone of any kind. The car has a nice growl, but you can still listen to the stereo or hold a conversation without it being totally annoying. The new piece fit very well. After the install, I noticed that my gas mileage was suckin' really bad. So I unhooked the battery cable for a few minutes, then reconnected it. Afterward my gas mileage seemed to be better than ever. I love it when I can get gas mileage and performance! Usually, you have to trade one for the other. I posted a thread on my experience with the swap. Had some pictures too. Dave

thats what i have magnaflow x with gt driver pipe and gt take offs. and i had him put clamps at the x and left the clamp on the mufflers so the whole thing comes apart nice if needed. been that way since june of last year and with the addition of the x-charger no issues still. its a simple and cost efficiant way to go
