Default '06 V6 Trany Problems!?!?!?!?!

Does anyone expereince jerking! I've been drivinng stick my whole life never owned an AutoT but ever since I drove mine off the lot I've had problems with first gear. Now 2nd jerks sometimes too. I feel like I have to ride the clutch forever to get it to stop jerking then it feels like it's slipping when I ride the clutch to stop the jerking...It Sucks!!! Some times I'm be crusing in first like in a psrking lot somewhere and if I increase speed the car will jerk like crazy!! I don't get it! I have 3500 miles on mine and have just about had it and really want to take it in but I hate ford service plus they don't give a loner car they shuttle you to and from work but after that you're ass'd out! Alos, in stop and go traffic the rpms shoot all the way up too 2800 with the car in nutral!

Someone please help!!!

The V6 5speed does require a lot of attention to drive smooth, particularly in stop and go traffic. I believe two things are working against us, the drive by wire programming and if you look under the car at the front universal joint you will notice a harmonic damper is part of the assembly. We have to content with the mass of this damper each time we change speeds.

There is some good news. The first thing you should get for your car is a Tuner and tunes from a good supplier, I use an Xcal form Doug at BamaChips. The extra power is great, BUT THE DIFFERENCE IN DRIVABILTY IS JUST PLAIN MAGIC. You will not believe that it is the same car.

is the Harmonic damper also known as a A harmonic balancer? (also called crank pulley damper, torsional damper or vibration damper) I'm just a little confused. I'msure a tuner would help but I'm trying to figure out if there is some seriouse issues...dealer charges $50 per check and I don't have the cash for that....

Been out of town, just saw your question. They both do the same thing, the harmonic damper/balancer is on the front of the crank and includes the drive pulley for all of the engine driven accessories i.e AC Compressor or Alternator. The one I am refering to is at the transmission output drive shaft junction. Another example of a harmonic damper is the weight attached to our echaust system to minimize vibrations in the exhaust. One of the things many manufacturers of motorcycles did to dampen vibration in the handlle bars was to add weight inside the ends of the handlebars.
