.....and, no, I wasn't driving my Saleen. The ole 94 Jeep GC ran on Saturday night a 12.35, 12.38, 12.40 and 12.42. Had at least 12 Mustangs out there including two GT500's fresh off the showroom floor....one ran a 12.40's (had racing slicks) and the other 13.10's (stock tires).

It is tempting to run my EXTREME at the track with these guys, but, the damage could be too extreme for me.....have to pull the engine down on my Jeep due to some coolant leaking from the heads into combustion chamber somewhere????? Never a dry-eye when you're dragracing, BUT, beating those 'stangs in a 4x4 Jeep is PRICELESS!!! (no offense to you guys reading this :))

It would have been nice to see the Extreme beat the Shelby for bragging rights but none the less great win, a humbling blow I am sure.

I'm of the opinion that an extreme would destroy a stock gt500 on the track. I love the 500 but for the going rate right now I'd take an E...really I think if I could afford an E and a 500 was at MSRP, I'd buy the E. they are pretty badass.

Eventually one of us extreme owners will have to break down and see what our E's can run.

Hi Viper/Saleen1

Glad to hear your jeep did good! You need to get the E out there.... Yeah I know I don't want to run my E either... It has enough power I know of that I don't need to prove anything... I would love to see one go down the track though... The Shelby is overpriced but those are some good numbers...

Daris says he has something for your Jeep...

See Ya,
Steph

Steph: If it's NOT a 4x4 something, tell your hubbie to just keep it in the lane next to me and enjoy the ride (with the toys in your garage, I'm sure he'll win!). If it is a 4x4, I think I'll hand him his hat....:))

Since you guys installed the chrome value covers, I believe your warranty may be voided, so, I suggest you run that Yellow Saleen down the 1320 first.....for the others wanting to not "baby" the Extreme, it has more to do with $$$ spent than not wanting to put it to the test. A blown engine (as I know can happen) would probably run $15K or more on the Extreme and it simply isn't worth it to me to prove its an 11-second car. But, I'll admit, it would be fun to flex muscle at the track now that some of those Shelby's are making their presence known.

For me, as long as my Jeep can handle'em, I'll leave the BIG GUN at home safely in the garage (for now....).

If I had an E I would change a pulley, because they have forged lower ends, and can take that abuse like the terminaters. That's just me though....I've even been thinking of converting mine to an E. Wouldn't be too hard, but probably by the time I was done, it would cost just as much to just go buy one.

When you factor in the negatives of running anything on the track ( wrecking yourself, someone wrecking into you, mechanical failures, etc.) and then realize that your insurance company ain't going to be there under any circumstances, then, after wrecking and/or engine failure, you STILL have to mail in that monthly payment on a $70K vehicle, PLUS, now pay for any repairs inflicted on that vehicle, then consider the DEPRECIATED value of that vehicle now that it's been wrecked/blown motor or whatever.........the picture gets very ugly indeed.

The "bragging rights" can be hard-felt if you're the unlucky fellow/gal who just did a number on their pride-and-joy at the track over the weekend. Seen too many wrecks at the track in just the year I've been racing my Jeep (and one nice gal almost took ME out when she over-accelerated into my lane!). The joy I get just driving my car ON THE ROAD (fully insured - my A## is covered in case I get alittle crazy) is worth more personally than an 11-sec slip of paper.

So far, my rebuild on my Jeep engine is now exceeding $5000 for my one-night of fame....ouuch!! Glad it wasn't my EXTREME or Viper (parked safely away in the heated garage :))

V/S,

Congrats on your Jeep time. I knew you'd get that thing deep into the 12s. I'd mod my F250 pur stroke to see if i could catch that damn jeep, but my DD would be compromised. I'll remain happy with 14s in my big lug of a 4x4 tow mobile.
Maybe I'll find a 60s, early 70s Bronco to play with. Low 12s?....eh...damn respectable in a 4x4...

I hear ya on the E. I just can't bring myself to take ours down the 1320 either. Maybe next year.
