I made a custom lid liner, and that is wear I stick my Dash Plaque's from car shows. The longer thing you see in the middle is an actual Saleen Door Sill with a nice long scratch in it - that I made my dealer replace before I took delivery.
Inefficiency, not the case. This is all part of the assembly line process, if you've ever been involved with that activity. It makes a lot of sence along with economies of scale. In other words these things are all very well thought of and thought through to make sure your SALEEN is as price competitive as possible. One needs to take a look at the Bigger Picture, say sa.
This is an inefficiency. On an assembly line you do not want to put something on just to take it off and replace it down the line. Tech 1 has to take the time to take stock wheels off than put temp wheels on, than later tech 2 has to take temp wheels off and put coreect wheels on. Option B stock wheels off than Correct wheels on. Option B is more efficienct! When was the picture taken, they probably didn't have the correct wheels yet. They probably wanted to get ahead in the build, and not wait for the correct wheels, which is a good thing!
Oh and PS economies of scales has nothing to do with efficiency. It has to do with that it makes more economical sense to have one common part used for lots of different things. another words if you can have a door handle used on 2 models as opposed to 1 model, the part becomes cheaper since the vendor can make more parts thus being able to have the piece price cheaper than if the qty, was half.
I will pass your adivce over to my VPs of production at my plants here and in China. I'm sure your expertise in these areas will make a world of difference to the Bottom Line in my companies. Of course your wisdom comes from years of experience in these ares as well I'm sure its backed up by your Masters Degrees in Business Administration and Economics. Right !? I bet your the guy who came up with the 2 - 2 - 1/2 Rule at the Harvard School of Business.
Perhaps you should pass your Resume on to the new Top Dog at Ford and why not to Steve Saleen while your at it. Your friend George the II at the White House could also use your help right about now before he bankrupts the good old USA. But please don't get involved in till after I take delivery of my PJ !!!

Truth hurts there doesn't it!! That is why you have to cut me down on my knowledge. I get the feeling you work for Saleen. Or actually you possibly couldn't b/c you don't know what you are talking about on this subject that was brought up. First you say it is done for quality control, than next it is economies of scales. Wow have a nice day, I know my lay-man mind will! Oh and I will pass my resume to Ford b/c I bet they would rather have wheels put on a car once, instead of your explaination.

WOW - sorry I brought it up guys I was just a little curious thats all, because in ANY business I feel doing something once is more efficient - not matter what you are talking about.
Now shake hands the two of you and lets all get along! There is enough trolling and bashing in these forums - we don't need two adult professionals (well, what appears to be anyway ) arguing about this
Sowaxeman ~ Right on ! But don't be sorry. One needs to vent when Mercury's in Retrograde. Did you check out the Parnelli Jones Pics from Chuckdoc ? Nice stuff, eh !!! Great website for a Dealer. Way to go Campbell Ford ! Your on the team.

No worries man. It takes all kinds to make the world go-round. I find the internet brings a lot of stuff that I will not bother to go into detail, etc. It just makes me laugh. But yes I agree with your feelings on this.
Work and Play keep me so busy the wait is not killing me that much. Sorry ! What is killing me is the RAIN. In the Pacific North West, November is the rainiest month of the year and if this rain keeps up through into Decenber I won't be driving the PJ as it is going to be my Sunny Day Driver but that's OK because I'm keeping my Bullitt and its my Daily Driver. Whoah.
Also FYI: The Saleen PJ production version IS going to sit higher than the pre-production model. It will have the same height as the S281s (Same suspension). Ride height can be changed, but that will take a new set of springs.
I got this from the Dealer support spec. at Saleen via email.
