that 4.0L V6, what other cars.....

Colvindesign -> that 4.0L V6, what other cars..... (9/8/2004 3:40:07 PM)

Just wondering what other cars come with it.

It would be easier for me if I could get one out of a wrecked something or other before I get my new V6 so I can start tearing it down to see what needs to be built up.

Is that the same one as in the Xplorer?

the new 4.0 v6 is built at the cologne factory in england or that pussy country where paris is. i don't think it has ben used in any cars over here but not sure.

it can be found in at least 2001+ ford rangers. I have a 99' ranger w/ the ohv 4.0 but my buddy has an 01' edge that has the 4.0 that ford is dropping into the 05 v6 mustang. that 4.0 has some balls even for being deprived of 2 cylinders.

Thanks guys, I thought that was the one. Just wanted to ask around before I started looking for one from a Junk Yard to start building up.

those are 90 degree engines the one going in the mustang is a 60 degree design. they are different

matt, are you 100% sure? b/c i read in hot rod magazine just a couple months ago that the 4.0L v6 in the 05 mustang was the same one carried over from the ranger. it clearly stated that. i'm not saying you're wrong, i just can't find anywhere that it says that. Let me know what you find out.
Later, Nick

i have heard from a freind at the ford dealership in Buford, GA that the engines are different blocks. i know the new 4.0 v6 in the mustang is a 60 degree design so they can put it in other vehicles like the freestar and the five hundred.

hmmmm, looks like I'll haf ta look into it more. To me it does not make sense for them to make 2 separate 4.0 SOHC V6s..... but I have seen dumber things from American car companies.

car companies dumb stuff. look at GM, they started saturn. [:D]

I too work at a Ford dealership, and I think that they are replacing the 3.8/3.9 with the 60 degree 4.0 because it's a smoother running engine.

matthockey32 -> RE: that 4.0L V6, what other cars..... (9/22/2004 10:58:13 PM)

on top of that it is easier to work on

the new mustang v6 with the 4.0 is a sad excuse for a vehicle, with barely over 200hp out of 4L Ford lags well behind most of the world with v6 engines. a 4L should at least have 250hp. as well as the 3.8 and especially 3.9 have lagged for many years with a measly 190hp.[:o][:(]

matthockey32 -> RE: that 4.0L V6, what other cars..... (9/25/2004 1:33:01 PM)

the 3.8s from GM are sad. 245 hp supercharged at the crank. a blown ford 3.8 has alot more than that.

EmptyEvergreen -> RE: that 4.0L V6, what other cars..... (9/28/2004 1:04:17 PM)

teh ford 3.8 was the worst engine ever produced, a supercharged one found in the thunderbird super coup only produced 210 horsepower

it would probably have the same hp if you used the same supercharger on the GTP's that blower is small
