and why?

well...they arent really identical items. or are they? am looking to place a 4 bbl on my 289 and was toying between the two dual plane intake manifolds. also, what would be recommended carbs to go with each?

any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks

The Stealth is a higher rpm manifold than the Performer. The Performer works well on stock engines, but the Stealth is better for mild engines.

For a carb, I'd go for a Holley. For a stock 289, 500 cfm is more than large enough.

The regular Performer intake is basically a slightly improved and lighter version of the stock cast-iron intake...

Since you're looking at a Weiand Stealth, you should really be comparing to the Performer RPM intake. The Stealth and RPM are basically equal - pick whichever you prefer or can get the best deal on.

The Performer RPM intake with the Edelbrock 1405/1406 carb makes for a nice peppy combo for a driver.

so either the stealth or edel RPM will make for a fun driver. that means it will still be a good driver for occasion and still have that zip? will traffic be an issue with cars that are fitted out with a mild engine? need to factor in come city driving of course

Are you auto or stick, you have to factor that in also. With a manual trans car you can get away with running a more aggressive intake like mine (look below), but with an auto you have to be more conservative because of the kick down and all that. But if you do go with the performer intake, get the air-gap style. Itll keep the intake charge cooler and in turn give you more ppower over the non air-gap style.
Ideally you'd give a little bit more info such as compression ratio, cylinder heads, eXhaust, and cam specs, then I could give you a nice recommendation on an intake.

o hate getting in online arguments....but BTW your wrong

http://www.demandsolutions.com/articles/holley.html

Besides its Bowling Green, Kentucky home, the company maintains a factory in Mexico, two factories in Mississippi and one in Long Beach, California. Manufacturing for all locations is controlled by the BPCS manufacturing requirements plan (MRP) system. When Holley began acquiring other brands many of the manufacturers had to come under the BPCS umbrella.

I buy quality if possible most things are made in china now and in 10 year it will be somewhere else, thats the market for you, in the uk we have no car industry, ok we do make lots of honda's etc and have a great racing tradition in f1 and ralleying, simple because the quality went low and people carried on buying them and then the quality got even worse and people wised up. Buy american for sure but make sure the quality is good otherwise the long term future of these american companies is extinction.

I have had more good experiencces with Holley carbs than with Edelbrock carbs. The only thing I have found that runs well with the E carb is a 350 chevy. That is because they are calibrated to run on a chevy, pretty much anything else and you need to change things. if its a daily driver the FoMoCo carbs are tought o beat. If its a race car,a Holley will spank the E carb any day.

its to bad you guys dont run Qjets..

I like Edelbrock manifolds though, and some of the heads. As far as choice of those two intakes, not much difference IMHO

Yeah, outsourcing is starting to take its' toll on the mom and pop parts dealers. The little no name parts place here in my little town is forced to sell the Made in China parts just to keep their heads above water. There is very little we consumers can do about it except try to find parts that are truly made in the USA. That is getting harder and harder to find. Check out your new Mustangs, and see what I mean.
