it also costs more than a stock gt...or a modded one...or a mach...and depending on where you get it, it also costs more than a cobra...

I think about 32k after tax and title, but gee it was paid for in cash! It's great not having a car payment!

But see if I were to buy a stang I would do the exact same thing as my fiance. Buy a 95 GT 5.0 for dirt cheap and then buy a pristine Dart block and stroke the s**t out of it. Myself probably go the turbo route since I get Garrett Supplier Price. Then smoke the s**t out of any Cobra with money still to spare in my pocket!!! Any questions??? Hmmm...

Right, it depends on where you get it. I saw an STi go for 3k more than a base wrx, (23995) and it was well optioned. I've also seen well optioned brand new 03 Cobras for only 31k. And Mach Is start at 29xxx, but if I were to buy one I'd have it maxxed out with options.

anyone can make anything fast.  i could get a dual port 1600 cc bug or ghia and get forged parts and juice the hell out of it...light ass (im talkin like 1000 something lbs) body with 300 shot=pwn joo.  turbo works as well...hell, even twin turbo.  sure, your wifes car may be fast, but it is also not as great a deal as you think.  dont make it about money, something will always be faster for cheaper.

i know man...some dealers are bad, but some just drop the prices so much you wonder how they stay in business.  volume=money.  more you're moving, more money you're moving into your pocket.  that's where you see the cheap ones...they can sell a bunch and make less off it and still make lots cause they move so many.  its genius.

i understand the honda thing you always talk about, but really...aircooled v-dubs are great and parts for the engine are practically free.  turbo setup?  twins?  nitrous?  it can take all of em, and to build it to take it costs like nothing.  1000-1500 lb body is where it gets ya.  transaxle will go through hell, but i think they sell some strong ones relatively cheap

Thats why Mohler and Durst are the two top dogs in ALL Motor for their class. One is a VW the other a Honda! Another instance is Roger Foo for anyone who follows SCCA. He had a 92 Honda Hatch with 12K in the motor and was smoking the $350,000 BMW's in track racing. And I'm not talking seconds, I mean he was lapping them!!!

I agree. Vdubs can be pretty sick when the engines are hopped up.

My whole point ever since I got here was anything can be built to be fast, & it's all a matter of preference on what someone is going to build. Some people are diehard Mustang fans, some are diehard LS1 fans and some like Hondas.

I love the sleeper look, so building a Honda would be sweet, but I love LS1s and Foxbody (GT and LX) 5.0s & 2000+ GT/SVT Mustangs.

You have to be open minded and give credit to the cars that deserve it, whether or not you like that brand of car

yeah, im seeing how to be like that now.  i dont really care what new cars can do anyway...i wont be able to afford a fast one till im on my own making some decent cash.  hell, youve even brainwashed me into thinking that honda idea is pretty cool.  but veedubs can do a wheelie easy...lets see a honda do that!
