2004 Mustang GT

Horsepower: 260 bhp @ 5250 rpm
Torque: 302 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm
Redline: 6000 rpm
0-60: 5.7 sec
Quarter: 14.1 sec @ 99 mph
Skidpad: .87g
Braking, 60-0: 120 ft

2003 Mustang Mach 1

Weight: 3420 lbs
Trans: 5-Speed Manual
Horsepower: 305 bhp @ 5800 rpm
Torque: 320 lb-ft @ 4200 rpm
Redline: 6250 rpm
0-60: 5.2 sec
Quarter: 14.0 sec @ 103 mph
Skidpad: .85g
Braking, 60-0: 122 ft

2005 Mustang GT

Weight: 3425 lbs
Trans: 5-Speed Manual/5-Speed Auto
Horsepower: 300 bhp @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 315 lb-ft @ 4500 rpm
Redline: 6250 rpm
0-60: 5.2 sec
Quarter: 13.9 sec @ 104 mph
Skidpad: .85g
Braking, 60-0: 116 ft

In brief, the 2005 Mustang GT will be heavier than the 2004's because of added safety equipment (to meet gov't standards) and larger size. However, the added horsepower still compensates for the additional weight making it faster in the 0-60 and quarter mile. The new GT is comparable to the Mach 1's as far as track times go. It is said the ride feels more "solid" than the 04's. Keep in mind, these were completely stock runs and the drivers capabilities, track conditions, etc. will affect times...

That's all I know...

fast-autos.net has all the specs posted. Curb weight may be different because 15.7 gallons of gas weighs alot!

If im not mistaken the 2004 weight is wrong, that is the v-6 you have there. 2004 GT was showing almost 3300 pounds.

Ive seen a stock 99+ GT run a 14.0 and I KNOW that the Mach 1 can hit deep into the 13s. Thanks for the info though.

a v6 weghs about 3300 lbs from factory, the GTs weigh about 250 lbs more. the 05 GTs are supposed to weigh within 100 lbs of the 04 GTs. and how is the mach1 so much heavier, there is not that much difference except in the engine.

Gearing perhaps?

The 05 only has 5 less hp and tq with 5 lbs of weight over the Mach I... with a supposed .1 second difference in the 1/4.

That isn't going to make that much of a difference, however... the numbers I've been seeing from stock Mach Is are nowhere near as high as 14.0s.

the weights of the cars is all wrong as well. the mach 1 weighs 3460 lbs. the GT weighs 3390 lbs and a cobra weighs 3730 lbs. the new GTs weigh about the same as the mach 1, estimated at less than 3450 lbs, and have 5 less hp and 20 less lb-ft of torque. i am estimating mid-high 13s in the 1/4 mile based on the info that i have and depending on the driver.
