I just got mine done a couple of days ago.

Back window 5%
Side windows 25%
I made sure that they used a moleskin on the side windows because of all the problems that I've been hearing here.
Cost 260

Laws vary, call your local Police department and ask them what the laws are, then there will be no guessing. Where I live you can only have the top 4" on the drivers and passengers windows tinted, no matter how light or dark it is. I got a fix it ticket for having my side ones tinted, they were only at 40%, cant remember exactly but they were light enough you could see in at night. I paid the fine and left it, got stopped by a state trooper - he wasnt so nice, he gave me a Obstruction of view and/or control ticket which is 3 points .

i think if I were you, that stop would have been on "Wildest Police Videos"

-"Then the driver looses his cool and trys to kick the officer in the head"
-"so then the officer tazers the man 3x to prevent the attack and 8x more just for the hell of it..."

i also plan on tinting..i think ill just go light and 25% all round and somthing less than 40% on front windows, so no tickets.

I think tints are like spoilers...light tints are suttle enough to get job done...dark as hell is like a 10' rector-set rice wing.

my sister's cougar is a Cali car, so it was tinted dark from factory

Believe me tommy it crossed my mind, he actually stopped me for my air freshener, which he gave me ANOTHER obstruction ticket for, the air freshener was maybe 2.5" in diameter. He also, asked me to step out of the vehicle handcuffed my to the front of his cruiser while he searched my car. He found a half full 5th of Jack daniels (that was behind my speaker box so by the taillights) he sets the thing on the roof of my car, making it look like I was drinkin and driving, no ticket for that thankfully even though he threatend to give me an open intox ticket for it, gave me a loud exhaust ticket, there was some other stuff too, sometimes I REALLY hate cops!

im really sorry to hear that bro, dont let one asshole ruin the cred of the other good ones.

hand-cuffed and the hood...metal on paint, the best combo? I would have made some scartchs on that big, heavy, family-sedan they drive around in...maybe not, im behind a computer, not there with my nerves going crazy like you must have been.

what do you think is a resonable setup...i want it dark enough to keep car cool, but not soo dark it attracks 5-0.
you think like less than 40% all around is good? (by less than i mean 40+)

and dark enough so the chics cant see my fugly ass and scare them away...

LOL! Check your local laws, they differ state to state and county to county, sometimes they even have city ordinances so definitly check. I think 20/25% on the back and 1/4 windows then something like 40-45% on the sides might be ok.

And he handcuffed me to the ram bar thing , the whole time I was cuffed, I was thinkin what if some a-hole rearends this POS cruiser, Id be FUKT! It seems like reckless endangerment to me. I guess I must be a pretty intimidating guy, thats happend to me twice so far.
As for being nervous, unless I got um "trees" Im not worried, Ive been pulled over SOOO many times it doesnt scare me anymore. I learned the proper way to deal with cops. Theyre on power trips, let them trip, be respectful, call them sir, follow their instructions, so on and so forth (talked my way out a DUI that way).
But the aforementioned incident I didnt keep my cool, as he was approaching Istuck my head out the window and asked em if there was a problem , bad idea. LOL!

I've got 5% rear and quarters and 25% sides. Max legal here. Cost 100$, kept the car overnight, and the only thing I would do different is have them do double 5 on the back and quarters. here in the south you can spraypaint the rear and quarter glass (not that it would look good, but just to give an idea that yes it can be that dark). Our tint strips on the windshield can only be 4 inches though....but i'll probably tint my windshield 25% and try to get away with it...

When i purchased my car...it already had window tint. I believe it is 13% or some crazy darkness. yes, its very illegal but i've never had any problems. I've been pulled over twice since then and neither had mentioned it. When its bright outside and i pass a cop i tend to roll down my side window just to be safe. I love the darker tint though. It brings the black of the car from the top to the bottom(you can't really see in when up to the glass). the limit for side windows is 50% in Ohio...but i'm in Indiana most of the time where it is 30%. About half the states let you have ANY% for the back. The biggest problem is backing up at night. :P it can get a little hard to see at times

yea that tint in the back of yours is a little to much and and if your dad would find out about it it would be off in like 2 seconds

Hmmm...in Texas, front windshield can come down 5 inches. If you have 2 side mirrors, the rear quarters and backglass can be as dark as you want. If you dont, the back and rear quarters get 25% max. Front windows have 25%max.

I have 2.5% on my rear quarters and like 12-13 on the front. Cant remember what it was. Got it inspeced just fine though last week...I brought in my car with the windows rolled down. They didn't check.
