need help on ID of car

I'm on my way back to my apartment when I end up behind a mitsubishi of some kind. It looks stock, and has about a 1.5 foot tall wing (looked stock) on the back. The kid looks back at me and starts playing with his BOV. Light turns, we pull onto the road and he floors it. I figure what the hell and drop and floor it. Surprisingly I was able to keep up. He floors it again and I heard a very loud spooling followed by black smoke from his exhaust. I didn't feel like getting arrested so I just went to about 65 (40 zone) then let off but I kept up again. I'm almost certain his car was AWD and of course there were HKS logos and stuff on it. I'm not much of an import person so I have no clue what it was though. A modified AWD mistubishi of some kind I'm guessing

haha, I found it on mitsu's site. It was a lancer evo. According to their website he should have smoked me, so maybe he wasn't full throttle. Either way *shrug* First time I've had one try to have a go with me

there have been races that 04 GTs have beet evos. its a close race.

from what I ahve seen stock they are a mid-low 14. some in a high 13

From a roll perhaps. I've yet to see one get any EVO 8 get higher than a 13.5 quarter.

Those Evo's are blowing up, in one of my auto mag. talked about the Evo's troubles and its not covered by the warranty.

mitsubihi is having major problems with the first-gen EVO8s. i have seen some with the heads blown off the car and they were stock. and the AWD system is going out in most of them at 15000-20000 miles. they rushed production without fixing the problems and they are losing money fast. the main problem is the wastegates lock up and overboost the, instead of 15 PSI from factory you are getting the max the turbo can make with is around 2 BAR(28-29 PSI).

they blow 19 psi stock and they are mitsu's. that is reason enough not to buy one. from what i've seen at the track, they run 13.3-13.5 with a good launch.

19PSI? that is insane for what they are pushing in power. how much does the STi blow? or the WRX? 1 BAR. mitsus are ****. they should never have done away with the Starion.

the sti makes 300hp & 300lb/ft with 14 psi. 1 bar. wrx makes 227 with 14 psi also. a stock wrx @19 psi would make the same power as an evo. thats why when those guys start talking i get to walking. damn mitsus.
