so when you take out the interior of a mustang, it's no longer a mustang No, I just think it's no longer a stock mustang, which isn't a bad thing. You can always keep the original pieces if you are worried about the price of your car going down as well

Price has absolutely nothing to do with it. Keeping a classic original has everything to do with it. Yes, whenever you take out the original looking interior of a classic Mustang and replace it with modern equipment, you are completely changing the classic Mustang into something it is not. There is no definition for that change other than restomod which I think is a misnomer. Again, if you want a modern car, then go get yourself a modern car and quit hacking up our classics trying to make them modern cars of which they were never intended to be.

But it does have its own personality and it definitely has its own, unique history instead of being like the other few thousand Stangs...

Yeah, he has aftermarket everything in that interior. Most all of the conveniences of a modern car. It is now no longer a classic. It's a freak, and has no history.

That's true, but what is it now? It is certainly not a Mustang.
somebody needs to chill out! its just seats and a console! hes got the originals stored. ITS NOT A MONSTER ITS A CLASSIC MUSTANG WITH MORE COMFORTABLE SEATS! there must not be many classics on this forum? i know there alot of cd players , mag wheels and beefed up engines in these cars.
You will never make a dent in Soarings "keep it original you bastard" point of view, save your breathe. In some ways I agree with him, they aren't making any more of these cars (at least not quite yet), and every one that's modified means there's one less original. That being said, I like the seats.

Exactly.
I supposed by going along with some of this anti-modern logic comments from fellow posters, getting a three-point seat belt, and throwing the originals in the garbage, makes my ride an even bigger freak of nature. Well guess what, I rather ride in a safer freak of nature Mustang than going through the windshield and either paralyzing or killing myself. I'm saying this because I was in a bad accident a few years ago, I almost died in the operating table and was unable to walk for almost two years, it took intensive physical therapy for me to able to start walking again, I'm now using a cane to get around, that's why I also converted my old ORIGINAL brakes to modern power brakes so my legs could handle them easier. Guess that's another freak addition I made to my freakish car. So there you go haters, I could care LESS if some of you guys think I'm a monster because my poor ol' Mustang has suffered through horrendous cosmetic surgery, I happen to like the changes, and if means keeping it even more MODERN and SAFER, I will continue DISFIGURING my ride, as long as that sucker becomes a safer and more enjoyable ride. Thank you, and God bless America.

I kept my originals, they are safe and sound in my garage.
Perhaps one day, when I see "the light" like some of the posters here, I might put them back again.
It's all good man, it's your car, do with it what you will. If you think mine is going back together in all original fashion, lemme tellya, it aint. I can see where Soaring is coming from, yet don't always agree.
I'm on the fence on this issue. Putting those seats and console into a Mustang is kind of like take an old transistor radio, gutting it, and putting a sattelite radio into it. In my opinion you would just be better off buying a SIRIUS or XM radio--even one that's used and cheaper. However, it's YOUR radio, and if you like what it looks like on the outside, but want the added features of something new--go for it. On that same note--if you and I were neighbors and you did something to your home which decreased the value of my home, then we have a problem. So the question is, will putting those seats into your car decrease the value of my car?
how could it your car is your car how is any one going to know that this guy put new seats that aren't original and you get effected. right now our cars are getting to the point were no matter what you do to them they are gong to go up in value and if he ever want to sell his car he has the old seats and if the buyer wants the old one put back in before he buys it then they are gong back in

And where is your crystal ball? None of us know for sure where the market for these dinosaurs is going. Right now it is on the upswing mainly because of some movies, but a few years down the road our current rides may be worth a ton less than we have in them. However, I predict that the original classics will outlast and be more valuable than the restomods because of the changing society who either want a new car or an original classic. Money is not the issue, but marketability is. Yes, you restomod guys can go into denial about that statement, but I fear you are just crapping in the wind when it comes to marketability for your bastardized Mustang. Yeah, I don't have a crystal ball either. Just an opinion and a trend I have gathered after seeing 45 years of buying and selling cars. So, I guess the bottom line is to build your car as you want it, and drive out the cost of it. Meaning, if you have to make payments on a new car, then just make those payments toward the restoration of your restomod. You won't get any more profit for it than you would by making payments toward a new Mustang though.

i wish i could get approved for a loan with no real credit built up yet.....id get a new stang in milisecond....
It's been raining here in the hill country of Texas, but stopped momentarily, so went out to inspect my new garden and the veggies I planted. While I was out there looking at these new green things that will serve to keep my body fed, I got to thinking about the LBJ ranch I just visited a few months ago, and the two original Lincoln verts he used while serving our nation as president that are stored behind a plexiglas wall for public view, and just thought to myself...... What if those two cars had been modified.....would they still be worth the same as they are today? Hmmmm

umm.....well i sorta get what your saying but i think that falls a little bit short of "working" as an argument....those things are valuable not so much because they are original but because of who used them id say.....
