Default 475HP Kit plus Coils

Just purchased the Saleen 475 HP Upgrade Kit and the Granatelli Coils they are being installed tomorrow by my dealer. How long can I expect the car to be there for, start to finish, including sending the CPU in for reflash? Also I have read that these two Mods will bring my baby up to 495HP, has this number been tested? What other SALEEN upgrades can be done to help get this new power to the ground and not just tourch the tires? I have read some other posts regarding suspension, any suggestions would be great. Thanks as always everyone!! Carl

There has been no one dyno with the 475 kit and coils that I am aware of. You should see 420-430 wheel hp. For other mods you could do the driveshaft, gears, rear lower control arms. They should have the work done in one day.

Jonsey, What's the difference between the "E" Suspension parts vs. the S/C Suspension parts?

dont forget about a clutch/flywheel! with that much power you will definitely want to uprgrade the clutch because you will almost definitely fry it sooner or later with those levels. adjustable lower control arms will help you a lot with wheelhop which occurs under hard acceleration. i would put those two at the top. after that i would go with an aluminum driveshaft. these usually cut rotational mass by 50%+ because the shaft is half the weight. this should add around 20rwhp with your setup.

I agree with carnut about the lower control arms. The aluminum driveshaft has been tested at about 10 wheel hp. Still pretty good. I agree the clutch should be upgraded. I am driving mine with a stock clutch as I don't drive the car hard. When the clutch goes I will replace it with a better one but I won't do it in advance. If you race or drive it hard then a clutch will be a good idea.

The difference in suspension parts is that the SC is stock Mustang lower control arms and panhard. The E parts are boxed control arms and a larger panhard.

I am not certain about upgrading the clutch. Everything I've read over at another site says stock clutch is best. (modfords)

Would be cool to get a dyno on that with the plugs. In fact it is probably recommended since some reports that it leans out by 0.2.

Edit: Since you are having this done at a dealer expect at least 2 days. They have to send your PCM to Saleen.

Where can I purchase the "E" Lower Control Arms and Panhard? And how much?
Any idea what the Saleen tune is with the upgrade kit? Mainly (A/F)? Will the new coils affect the tune or will the Saleen tune be fine?

Will Saleen adjust the programming to compensate/add for the new coil pack?

Everything I have read says Saleen uses a "canned" tune- the only adjustment they make is if you have different gear ratios or if you ask to have the car dynoed.

Also- did you get a good deal on the coil packs?

Too bad we can't get enough guys in here that want the Granatellis to do a Group Buy.

My understanding or the Coil packs is you don't have to re-tune. Dot, I have never heard or read of it running leaner with them. Where did you get this info? Also, please post any results of a/f with the 475 kits. This will at least let us know if it is conservative tune and adding something like the coils will be all right.

I think it was on modfords that I read about the leaning out on a car, been a while since I read that though. The tuner just added the fuel back in. The resulting horsepower gain was just a couple less than the advertised 20 as a result.

To address other questions in replies:

- The Saleen tune is completely locked. If you find you need to make any adjustments to the tune because of parts you add you will have to get it completely custom tuned from scratch.

- You can purchase lower control arms and panhard from BMR or call up Casey from Haneymotorsports.com if you want to source the exact parts via Saleen.

- The coils _may_ affect the tune. I would dyno it and monitor A/F with any modification you add after installing the 475 HP kit regardless just to be safe.

I will be getting my dyno done sometime next week with full A/F monitoring so I can post those results as soon as it is done. This will give us another example of what the 475 HP kit is doing on these cars.
