I see more blown headgaskets and Honda's in the junkyards here than I do domestic cars.

There is no truth to Japanese cars being more reliable than domestics any longer.

http://autos.yahoo.com/consumerreports/article/holding_up.html

Read up, get educated.

Dan mucho respect to you... but what you just stated and the link you just gave... COMPLETELY contradicted each other...

quote:

The survey, the largest of its kind to gauge automotive reliability, yielded information on the serious problems our subscribers have faced with some 675,000 privately owned or leased cars, trucks, minivans, and sport-utility vehicles. It shows that among cars less than a year old, the average problem rate for European cars and trucks was 20 per 100 cars. For domestic vehicles, it was 18 per 100. In our 2002 subscriber survey, U.S. and European automakers were tied at about 21 problems per 100. The graph below shows the trend for vehicles up to eight years old.

Overall, the most reliable vehicles continue to be those from Asian automakers. The problem rate for the newest models among all Japanese and Korean vehicles is holding steady at 12 per 100.

As the comparison tables show, Acura, Honda, Infiniti, Lexus, Mazda, and Toyota have been the most reliable makes over the past five model years, based on the average problem rates. (Those averages can mask a wide range of problem rates among individual models; reliability varies from model to model for most makes.)

18 per 100 is a higher number than 12 per 100... I'm confused by your statement compared to the link you gave us???

why don't you drive your domestic at 8200 rpm for a while and then come talk to me about headgaskets

oh that's right, you big bad domestic boys make ALL your power down low and don't need to rev high- of course with all the pistons and displacement that you guys have tucked under your rusty hoods a honda motor could have made double the power

but i'm proud of the dude at the top who beat the b16 civic- but your posted best time is 14.5 and you managed to beat a 13.5 second civic?
was the air REALLY cold that night? is that what accounts for the full second or better that you shaved off your quarter mile time?

or did you just make your girlfriend get out of the car?

Heh, I can't believe you are bored and lonely enough to register and argue here.

no... not really because that says Ford is higher than the industry average... where as Honda is 60 points below it... are you making the points for my case, or yours?

Maybe I should just go have some coffee...

Man, what's so confusing

Problems per 100 cars. Industry average is 269 problems per 100 cars. Drink up that coffee man! I don't see what you are so confused about bro.

Yeah I'm not confused on that part... I'm confused on how you're saying that you see more Hondas with problems than you do DOmestic cars. Ford is Domestic... and

Ford has 276 problems
Honda has 209 problems

276 >>>>>> 209

Are you drunk or am I missing the entire point? cause what you're saying makes no sense and has no relevance to this kill story whatsoever...

Someone pointed out Honda's having less problems and lasting longer.

Did you forget who owns Lincoln, Buick, Cadillac? GM & Ford....

Um alright.... those cars that never reach 50 mph & are never modified or beaten up on by teenagers have less problems. who would have thought?

Apparently Lincoln buick and cadillac are doing something that GM and Ford aren't, as Honda still scored higher than GM and Ford... but since Mustangs aren't built by Cadillac I'd say your point is null.

what ? teanagers..beating on....bah.....incredibly irrelevant. a majority of the people that drive hondas do it for the fuel economy. he proved a valid point your just specualting reasons why honda possibly couldnt have taken the top spot

I never said anything about Ford. Can't argue the facts man, I guess I should have known better than to post this.

Lincoln, Buick & Cadillac are more luxery based cars, (note Lexus being #1) Superior build quality, they are a GM & Ford product still. I don't know why you are so insistant about Honda placing higher than Ford's line of cars.

No, i'm not sitting here speculating anything. I never said Honda was the car God would drive, we already know that is a Saleen S7.

Apparently we were debating each other with two completely different arguements.

Being that we are on a Ford site I made the assumption he was here to defend Ford. He proved a valid point, but all he proved was that the luxury division of the domestic side has fewer problems than Honda as a whole, Honda including people with Si's, GSRs, and the upper models like the prelude and Accord... which teenagers get a hold of and beat the living **** out of.

That, to me at least, is kind of a given seeing as the people who drive Infiniti's, Cadillacs, etc aren't the same people who drive the sport compacts of Honda and the pony cars of Ford and Chevrolet.

He's comparing apples to oranges, which is my only problem with this topic.

Thats great, so Do i. but when you bite into one do you compare it to the other? no. so why would you compare grandpa cars to sport compacts and pony cars?

Which you have a very valid point Si.

But, the simple belief as it still is that imports are the better car just isn't the story anymore. I should have made it more clear that I wasn't trying say Ford's line of cars are better than Honda's. But, this is why I said domestic.

It's all good.

Well, for one I'm not car brand loyal. I like Honda, I like Fords, I like Chevrolets. Two, it's fun here.
