I was so psyched to see what my car would run last night, i'm all ready heading down to the track with my friend and it turns out it was closed to outsiders because of some national meet for some funny cars or something. Anyway, I was working on my launches before I left out in front of my work. I was wondering what luck you guys had with launching your cars. I started launching it at 3500 but I was peeling to bad. So I lowered it to stalling it at 2500 or so and I don't peel as bad. What has worked for you guys?

If your good then rev to 3k and slip the clutch to keep wheelsping under control, if your not good then rev to about 2k and dump the clutch

I rev to about 2000rpm with street tires BFG radials. I let the clutch out pretty fast, I dont get hardly any wheel spin. If I dump the clutch @2000rpm ill get little wheel spin. I can launch at 3000rpm, and feather the clutch and get little wheel spin. anyway tires make a big difference.

Ok cool, this is actually my first 5spd car so I'm not a pro or anything at it right now. I was just dumping the clutch out completely. I'll try feathering it at 3000rpms. I also have Pirelli P4000 I think tires. They have great tread on them, they look almost new. I need the best time I can possibly get. I dropped about 40lbs outta my car before I left, between misc junk and the spare tire and jack. With my mods: Mac Flowpath, CAI, and Aluminum DS. And with me if I shift very good do you think at least a 14.9 is feasable?

try launching it at about 1500 with street tires....then power shift from first to second and second to third.

YEah... I can only launch a little above idle or I will be spinning all over the place.

now see if my knowledge of powershifting is correct...you hold the gas to the floor throw in the clutch real fast and pump it into a gear really fast then pop the clutch right...is there any rev limiter issues with this

You got the right idea, although with our glass 5 speeds, all it takes is 2-3 missed power shifts and you'll be purchasing a new one.

aah! the shear joy of launching with an AOD with a little higher stall and 9" slicks!! I was getting 1.83 60' times all weekend with a best of 1.783 on Saturday in the first time trial. you guys with the 5 speeds just don't know what you're missing! hahahahahaha
