I was looking to get the Eibach Sportline system for my 2002 GT. On another forum I was asking around about it, and I came across a comment from a fellow forum member. As you can see below he basically said that if I drop my car two inches with the shocks and springs I'll run into a bunch of problems down the road. I was wondering if there was any truth to this? "THE FACTORY MUSTANG SUSPENSION MOUNTING POINTS DO NOT ALLOW FOR SIGNIFICANT LOWERING WITHOUT NEGATIVE TRADE OFFS" - Protoworks.com So if I would get the Sportlines (which lower the stang a little less then 2") I would run into a bunch of problems down the road? -greiz24 Yup, like lack of camber gain, excessive bump steer, poor ackerman, etc. Lowering is for looks not handling, unless you start modifying pickup points. - bluepony

The statement is false... there are ways to properly fix the geometry and ride quality of your Mustang after lowering. Caster Camber plates are definitely suggested. This will allow you to get your alignment back into spec. After lowering the car 2 inches your front camber will be too negative to correct with the stock strut mount plates, Shocks and struts would also be recommended. They'd be recommended if you even put any new spring on your car. Any time you increase the spring rating you should get new shocks and struts to properly dampen this new spring rate. Bumpsteer kits are also recommended. A Mustang stock has bumpsteer, the more you lower the car, the worse the bumpsteer gets. A bumpsteer kit will help adjust the tie rod angle enough to help fix the bumpsteer issues. Is this sportline kit the best "performance spring", no... its more designed for looks, but it doesnt mean you cannot put them on your Mustang and still have a great ride. Just follow the suggestions above... Sincerely,

I know this is old, but I really like the 2" drop from Sportlines, and there have been many people with the Sportline springs and nothing else and havent had any problems, and I was wondering, are they getting lucky, or will something eventually happen to their ride? I was thinking the Pro-kit would be better for me, but is there really that big of a difference when looking at the two of them? Thanks

For the sportline springs... new shocks & struts and cc plates are highly recommended.... at the least to get the job done right. Whether some people seem to "get by" with just doing the springs... is more subjective data. Many drivers have different opinions of what a great ride is, or whether the car handles well. Some drivers dont mind having a slightly bouncy or jarring ride, while some are more sensitive to it. Your will will drive better, and have proper tire wear if you at least get the items above. The main difference between the Eibach Pro-kit and Eibach Sportlines is the drop. The Sportline springs lower about 1.75-2.0 inches while the Pro-Kit drops about 1.5 inches. They also have different spring rate specifications. Check out our spring rate chart... http://www.stangsuspension.com/store/comersus_dynamicIndex.asp Sincerely,
