Default Winter Driving

I unfortunately have to drive my 95Gt all winter. Winter here in new york is well, snowey, icey and cold. I have to drive 20 mins to and from college daily. I have Cobra R rims with 315s on them. Nice big wide tires. I have 3.73 gears which i hear are not the best for snow. Any recomendations for snow driving or anything i can do to preform better in the snow?

But a beater if you can. Something front wheel drive. I bet you can find an old Escort or something of the sort for cheap. First of all, if you are driving in snow you know that they are using salt or some other kind of snow melting chemical and that stuff kills metal as you know. Save your doe and get a beater..

YES
Buy a cheap front wheel drive car for the winter.
Thats all there is to it.
You wont regret it,,trust me.I live in Michigan and can barely get out of the driveway with mine.I could'nt imagine New York, you get far worse weather than we do.

Well if you can't afford a beater car try putting some weight in your trunk. The more weight the better the traction.

You can do that but it makes the car harder to stop as well.I had 600 pounds in my trunk and when i tried to stop the front brakes would engage harder than the rears as it's supposed to and lock up causing the car to slide one way or the other in the front.
You can try if you like,it's your car.

im buying a bronco after that last hell winter in my car, especially if your going to be driving to school . but if you dont like driving then stick with the mustang it will keep your car grounded for many of the trips you take with friends and such

If you dont want that car to last then ya just drive it in the snow. Because all what is going to happen is you are going to lose control (easy to do with a mustang) one of those times when you are out and with those (wide tires) they are going to be like skis on that snow. Also black ice has got me a few times. (made me do a few 360s) no accidents though. I am in the country though and i only took it out because it was dry (i thought) on the road and bing i could have lost my car that night. So my advise is take what people are saying. GET A BEATER DONT TAKE THE CHANCE OF LOSIN YOUR BABY!!!!!! also the salt is going to kill ur car and those wheels (like ParrotHead) said. Just get a POS or somethin to get you by for the winter and then have your fun come spring!!!!

at bearly 18 on my fathers insurance its not easy to just buy a beater. I have enough money to get one but my father is weird about drving olders cars etc. I came home with an 87 mustang and got yelled at get this, not for buying a car without asking, but for buying an "old unreliable one" as he said lol. it was a beast with 380 horse to the wheels. I sold it to my boss the next day and we went car shopping and picked up my 95GT. I have my mothers Jeep to drive in bad weather when the snow is on the ground. Otherwise ill just take it easy i guess. They clean the streets pretty well here. One thing though. i have Cobra R rims with 315s on them. Should i get new rims and tires that are better for this weather or anything? Should i get smaller ones or special snow tires or anything? Thanks guys.

ya get stud tires for the winter. Get them in the back and if you got the money get them in the back too. (studs are not much) Put alittle wait in the back (a few bags of sand), keep it in the higher gears (especially in snow). Do you have a 4.6L or a 5.0L? What kind of mods? Those would changed your outlook too. But just answer me on those.

also the wide tires are going to kill you the same concept as hydroplaning.
