if they made a tt mustang from the factory that would be insane. factory warranty. id be happier if they just brought back a new 4v motor. that would be great.

I know you and I would buy one, but generaly the type of consumer that can drop $100,000+ on a car will be looking for more than performance. There are people that buy cars that cost well over $100,000 that don't perform as well as a C6, let alone the Z06. Take the Ferrari F430 as an example. Only 490 hp in that bad boy.
I just think it would benefit GM if it wasn't viewed by upper class society as a "Corvette". That's not a knock on the car. This car isn't designed for you and me.
How can you even post this when people are lined up to pay 70k for a 40k Mustang.
Well, Dodge is suppossedly making the new "Diamondback" or "Coppermouth" or sometime of high performing Viper. 600+ponies for them, too. And Ford might be making something, they did have all those concepts, Shelby Roadster, GR1, and the like...

That's a Shelby and some people view it as a collector's piece. And $70k is not $100,000+. Don't get so defensive, GMLegHumper.

$100k for a 650 hp Vette is a much better bargain than $70k for a much heavier 500 hp Mustang. If that soulcrusher goes into production it will anally violate pretty much any car on the road, including Ford's $150k flagship.
but i agree, looks wise i love the new gt500, but all it is is a modded GT. given, heavily modded, but none the less. and if it were available at the $40K price it would be a damn bargain - but not $70K. @ $70K its a dog.
I think ford needs to take a hint from GM and build a lighter more powerful cobra - even if there are two. The cobra and the cobra R or something. i dont know. now a days its a mustang v corvette world(till the camaro comes out) and you get what you pay for. We pay $20s for our stangs and they pay $40s for their vettes and we get stomped on(stock). if fords wants to build a $70K Cobra to compete with the Z06 i completely think they could do it. They just havnt. The GT500 is a competitor to the regualr vette, not the Z06, IMO.
you know what, im ranting, all i want from ford are unbreakable blocks, 6 spd trannies, and more displacement!!! if i got that, i would be a happy man!
People - let's put on the thinking cap for a second. The GT500 is a) a Shelby and b) a $40,000 car. If a dealer tacks on a premium and some idiot pays it, that's his problem. It doesn't change the fact that it is still a $40,000 car.
Now since that everyone is drooling over this car (albeit people that will never be able to afford it), what's to say that a) the car won't list for more than $100k and b) dealers won't do jack up the price. It could end up being a $175,000 car and not for nothing, I'll take the Ferrari F430 in a heartbeat over a supercharged Corvette.

If you're right and it won't sell for 100,000k then why the hell would the dealer mark them up?
You have people right now buying GT500 for 70K and the C6 Zo6 is 75K and it's a much nicer car in every way. If there is a market for the GT500 believe me there will be a market for a 650hp 100k Vette need I mention the ZR1.
Fair enough - I just posed the question. Remember, there s a much bigger Mustang market out there. The Camaro/Firebird/TA's weren't consistently outsold for no good reason. No matter what you think of the Mustang, they are imensely more popular than any other domestc sports car.
Question - can't you slap a supercharger on a C6 or Z06 and get the same thing for less money? Don't you think they have to do more to the car to make it $30+k better than a Z06?

I'm sure a supercharged Zo6 would be ritght there with this one. But the again why spend 40k(plus markup) on a Mustang when you can supercharge a 26k GT and do pretty much the same thing as a GT500 for another 6 or 7k.
What I think of the Mustang? Hmmmmmm....... It's a great car. A very good 'bang for the buck' reliable well built American car. I have nothing against them at all but since I don't have the time, money, or know-how to do major modding projects I went for the car that IMO was a 'better bang for the buck' car. I know my way around a car but I'm not confident enough to go tearing into a 30k car weather it's a Mustang Camaro or GTO.
Oh... and I not a fan of retro styling either.

Just slapping a blower/turbo on a car that wasn't built for it is not the same as enhancing a car that was made to be boosted in the first place. You can't just put a turbo on a regular 3.8L V6 Regal and expect it to be the same as a T-Type/Grand National, or put an Eaton on a Mach 1/NA Cobra and expect the same power/reliability of a Terminator.

i'm curious. if all the people around where you live drive ferraris, lambos, etc, and their kids drive vettes, why are you driving a mustang GT and sti?
