Default Saleen Scenic Roof

Hey everyone,

I recently purchased a 2006 S/C saleen #1227 and i am new to this forum. I would like to know for those of you who have the scenic roof option if you have had any problems with it getting hot in there because i have. I wanted to know if there is anyway to solve this problem? I was thinking of maybe limo tinting the glass roof. I thought that maybe saleen would come out with some type of cover or shading for the glass roof but i guess not. What do you guys think would work best?

thanx

Well congrats on the car!! welcome to the forum!! Sorry i Can help u much w/ this but thats a good question. I thought about it 2 when I saw the car. One is that if u tint the roof then whats really the point of having a panoramic view. just buy the coupe right or a vert?? (my opinion, i dont know if im right) but the tint is going to help some what the heat inside the car. Im guessing just turn the ac on for now.
Good luck

Unfortunately I think that is the price you pay (in more than one way [8D]) for that option. If you happen to have an auto tranny then you could get a remote starter installed to help cool it down before you get in it. I have one on my daily driver Navigator and it is a very nice feature both in the winter and the summer.

If this is a problem for you while your driving, then you might have to find a reputable upholstry shop to fab up a custom, retractable shade for the inside top - kind of like what the Fox hatch cars used in the 80's & 90's to hide cargo in the back. I'm sure somebody out there could do something tastefull that retracts/hides well in the back where the windows meet, and maybe the shade could pull out and hook to the visors or something like that. Probably not cheap, but just a thought.

My Scenic roof gets hot too and I just turn the air up higher. Not trying to be a smart a__, but its much better than more vette convert which you cant get any relief in when its hot.

Got to change my sig. from #1094 to #1241. Had to take back my first Tungsten Grey and find another through Ron at Campbell Ford. First one was wrecked at the dealer when some customer lost control. The dealer told me the spoiler had to be replaced but after I drove it for 2 days and heard this god awful noise in the rear end, I took it back and they told me that both right side tires and wheels had to be replaced when the spoiler was replaced and that now the rear axle was bent. Needless to say I went through the roof and demanded they cancel the deal and take the car back. It took them a couple of days but they finally saw it my way after a little persuasion from some third party sources of mine. lol

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE, that totally sucks! [:@] So the dealer lied....huhum.."bent" the truth when saying that JUST the spoiler was damaged during accident? Maaaaaaaaaan, I would be PI$$'D OFF at that. Did you get all the same options, colors etc.....? Even worse you had to "persuade" them in such a way.

all of us at MF feel your pain, but at the same time, hope we NEVER feel your pain!

Jaz

Yea, To say the least I was pissed, especially when they said "well you were told it was wrecked". Rafeal and Fritz at Saleen along with Ron were simply awesome at finding me another car with all the same options except for the new one does not have the max grip rear end, but everything else is the same. Ron worked his butt off finding a new car and then with the shipping from Michigan to Georgia and all the paper work involved.

The dealer here told me a bunch of stuff that was not quite the whole truth. They told me it was the only one this side of the Mississippi like that one, when there are a couple of more out there. I also asked them will this car have a car fax report on it and the GM told me he wasn't sure how carfax got their info. I stood their in the middle of their showroom in shock when he told me he had no idea how carfax works. I just laughed at him and said "buddy, a man in your position of one of the largest Ford dealers in this state and your going to stand there and tell me you dont know how carfax works, I guess you need to talk to my attorney so he can explain it to you". The next day he called me and told me he canceled the deal and that they did get a police report on the accident so they could go after the customers insurance that wrecked the car.

Glad this story has a happy ending, when I first read it I thought that Campbell Ford was the culprit, I heard many good things about them and Ron, good to know there are folks like them out there that will go the extra mile.

saleen4l,
Sorry for the hi-jack, I hope you find a solution to your problem.

I also purchased a 2006 S281 S/C with the scenic roof option recently. I immediately tinted it & there was no view restriction at all. The roof now has a crack in it & one theory is that the glass was scored during tint install by a razorblade. With the summer heat what it was, speculation is that the glass cracked as a result of that score. I don't necessarily agree with this-it's just a possible theory as to what caused the crack. For those interested, Saleen is working on a shade that is suction cupped to the underside of the roof.
