are we talking a v-6 eclipse?  I dont know much about the trim levels of the eclipses.  I am going to go with the 2001 mustang gt.   Is the exhaust full exhaust (headers, straight pipes, and a fart can? or just a fart can?)?  Stick or auto?

going with a stick, full exhaust, and intake, I still say the mustang wins.  The exhaust and intake may give a little bit better output.  I dont know enough about chips to form an opinion, just heard they arent what they are cracked up to be.

chips can do not of different things. but i can almost guarentee the chip the guy has in the eclipse just takes the rev limiter out, so he can rev as high as he wants. thats what allot of handa mitsu guys do because there cars rev so niceley.

new eclipses are a bit slower then 95-98 gsx or gs-t modles (turbo) . depending on if he has auto or stick and what mods he really has. i think you have a more than good chance at takeing him buy a good length.

they can raise the rev limiter, but i wouldnt rev a mistubishi engine up to 8K. there's only a handfull of honda engines that come stock balanced at 8K plus. only VTEC's, i think.

Race him. The only way you'd lose is if your a bad driver. Those cars weigh about as much as yours, and you have miles more torque.

You can run on 7 cylinders and take a new Eclipse. They are a joke.

Haven't timed the car yet, will get track times as soon as I install the Vortech aftercooler, new tires, and get a custom PCM burned. I'm hoping for mid 11s. Thanks for the interest.

you should be able to take one. just make sure you get your launch down. too much wheel spin could allow him to run neck and neck with you. but you should get the edge by at least a car length. dont worry.

It's a v6, didn't you read it? Which would mean it has two sets of headers. Not an i6 or an i4... those are the older ones. These have a 210-hp v6. A lil bit slow than the old turbos.
