Well, straight up, I'm a GM man, but I love all domestics.

I KNOW for a fact that a 5.0 will be a jumper car between my current 1997 Saturn SL2 and the '86/'87 Buick GNX.

The reason being is that it's one of the best bang for buck project motors, it's a V8, domestic, and rear wheel drive.

Now, I'd like to get an older 5.0 (mid-late 80ish) once I get out of college, build it up, and make my Saturn the back up car. What years do you reccomend, and why?

I plan on a turbo kit (T3/T4, twin turbos) or possibly a nice stealthy nitrous set up. Maybe a blower if I can get around the same power as the turbos will give me, a LOT easier to swap in and out of the car. It's gotta be a 5 speed, and take most of the parts out there.

What about the aluminum driveshaft I saw in Summit's catalogue? Anybody know what kind of torque that thing can take? I'm kinda hesitant to swap it in, seeing as it's hollow, but I know the gains can be fairly impressive with them.

Anything that I should look out for on these cars? Any good grinds for nitrous, or boost out there? Short throws? Clutches? Heads? What do you all reccomend?

And if you could give a couple websites with parts, I'd be damned grateful.

Thanks yall. Maybe the fomoco bug'll bite me

Dude, I am jealous as hell of your GNX!!! I LOVE those things!!!!!! Anyhoo, I had the Aluminum driveshaft from summit and it was kick ass!!! I couldnt break it. I went 11.35 with slicks and N2O and didnt hurt it the slightest little bit. I also know of stangs using it and going deep in the 10's

   I wouldn't think it'd be THAT strong.

So, any help with say, supercharger (or turbo kits), some other companies besides what Summit lists. I know there's a ton of stuff out there for the 302, but I'm not finding that much on the web
