Ok, so wearing a bra for the nose of your car was only cool way back in the 80's was it? Nobody does it any more? Will you guys laugh at me if I do it? I drive 80MPH for aprox 2 hour round trip per day. I bought my '02 with 2700 miles on it one month ago and it's already getting sandblaster from this horrible St. Louis commute now with almost 7000 miles on it. I can't stand what it's doing to my stang. I keep a thick coat of wax on the whole car and especially nose and wipe bugs off immediately (1/2 hour of my trip is through corn fields, the other half on the race track known as I-270) so I get pelted with bugs, rocks, ladders, sofas.

Anyway, aside from looking er, uhm, soul or ethnic, is it really true that they can mess with your paint or trap moisture or cause impotence?

The car bra will scuff the paint up, I don't no why people use it. I have seen a wreaked car with a bra still on it (lot of good that did) lol.

What color's your car? I would also worry about the sun fading the rest of the paint. Therefore, when u take the bra off, your front will look alot brighter.

The car is mineral grey. Looks sometimes like nice dark silver, in other light it almost has a bit of brown in it. In never looks the same two days in a row. Wierd paint color. I just put the black MUSTANG letters on the rear bumper today. Looks great in black against silver.

I think the bra was in the past a sylist feature (to some people) and others of course use it to protect the nose of their car. I drive 2 hours minimum daily (not including beer runs, church, etc). 1/2 of my drive is 65 MPH through bad bug laden corn fields and the other 30 minutes is up to 80MPH getting my stang nose sandblasted with road crap. It really bothers me and so I'm asking how out of style are they and how damaging can they be. Why get one if everybody hates them AND they cause more damage if they prevent is what I am thinking. Anybody on MF have one and admit it?

Thats a tough one.... use it or not. I know of one guy that i grew up with, it ruined his paint. But he never took it off all the time to let it air out under there. On the other hand you are dealing with getting sand blasted. Well.. Not sure if I would use one or not. Guess if you can put up with people there screwing with you then its ok.

I would get a bra, for only long highway trips, then take it back off for just around town driving

I have the one that just goes over the front part of the hood, and I personally do not think it looks bad. I think if you take it off frequently, especially if it gets wet, you should not have any problems. I have had mine for about two years, and I have not had any problems, just keep the bra and car clean. Although my wife thought, it was funny when I told her I had to buy a bra for the car.

Could you recommend a place to shop for a bra that will last at least 2 years and not harm my car?

Hey man, i have a bright yeller mustang with a bra on it, i only use it when i go on a trip of some sorts, but when i did have it on over the summer, i had it off every time it was a nice day out, but then again i washed my car everyday so i didn';t worry about bugs or dust on it, but if you take the bra off at least 2 or 3 times a week and give your car and the bra a good scrubbing, it shouldn't hurt you car at all, but if you get it nice and dirty one day and just forget about it, well say goodbye to your paint job, my bra is made by LeBra and it is the whole front bumper and the front of the hood, installs in like 5 or 10 minutes, same with removing it, i think it is worth it if you drive constantly on the highway or interstate, ut town driving or speeds below 60, i don't think you need it, but thats my $.02

I have mine for looks, and I like it. I did not, however, put the bottom half on, just the hood part. As for the rest of the paint on the car fading, so what, I'm leaving the damn thing on there. I like how it matches my convertible top. It's your car, go with what you want on it.

Why not buy that clear 3M stuff that they coat certain sections of your car with? Protection of the bra/ wout the 'alternative lifestylish' looks or worrying about paint?

I have heard of that clear stuff but only for the rear quarters or something. I may find out more about that. 3M doesn't make any 'junk' so maybe it would be worth a try.

I bought mine from the local Ford Dealer. I have had it for about 3 years, and have had no problems, or fading. I do use leather cleaner, and remove it occasionally to let the paint "breath".
