White paint ruined by leaves

I left my 99' GT convertible under a black walnut tree for 10 days. I scrubbed the stains out of the paint with rubbing compound, but the fenders and hood scoop are ruined. I can't get the stains out. Any advice?? I'm just sick over this. I know I should have known better, but we left the country on holiday and I called the daughter to have her move it and wash it, but she didn't *pout*

Bite me, BC. I'm looking for advice, not the likes of you wagging your finger in my face and chastising me for this horrible mistake. If you've got any real advice, I'm all ears.

Don't use rubbing compounds on clear coats unless you're working with a fresh wet-sand job. They're simply too agressive and will cause clouding.

My suggestion is to look for a black tube called "Scratch X" by Meguiars. It's garanteed not to leave more scratches than it takes out, but it also works amazing for stains. It's great when applied by a dual action buffer with foam pads. Orbital buffers simply suck and rotaries aren't to be used by anyone unless they have training, otherwise I garantee your paint will be burned up.

It costs about $8 a tube, and the tubes can last a while. And yes, that's the same spot....scratch and all.

Thank you very much jeep!! I truly appreciate the advice. I don't think this has a clear coat (doesn't look like it anyway) and already has swirls in the finish. I had a tube of the Maguires in my hand Sat at the store, and put it back. I'm going back to get it today. I don't have the sanders anymore...went with the ex.


The stains came out of the paint, it's the plastic bumpers that won't come clean. Someone suggested WD40, says it takes stains out. I've never heard of it

I don't think they are painted. It looks like the color is in the plastic, which is why those pieces always look a little off-white no matter what I do, and it's the reason the stains won't come out, they've penetrated the plastic and are now deeply imbedded below the surface.

there is this stuuf made by 3m called finess-it it works wonders,  try that.  if that doesnt work then you will proubaly have to wet sand it and buff it out.  have you check with your insurance about this sometimes they will cover stuff like this.

It will count as a claim on your policy if they will cover it.

Which will drive up your payments. Not a smart move in my eyes

I thought about the insurance maybe covering it, but my deductible is kinda high, so it wouldn't help much. I'm going to try a few of these suggestions first, and if they don't work I'll just have to take it to a body shop where they can wet sand the plastic and buff it back up. It'll cost, but she's worth it! *S*


Sorry BC for snapping, I'm just sick over what I've done to this car. This car also is having terrible electrical problems, and some have suggested I trade her in. I just can't, not yet. Gotta try to fix it if I can, but it's one of those intermittent problems I can't reproduce for the parts monkeys at the Ford dealer. Nothing shows up on the diagnostics, and now the battery is dead (again)
