OK, question to those who have endeavored in this foray and pulled the panel...

I already have the My Color option in my 2006... However, from what this dealer said are the LEDs really replaceable/accessible?

I wondered why they chose RED/GREEN/BLUE instead of RED/YELLOW/BLUE...

If the LEDs are any standard size and replaceable, that would be another cheap upgrade.

Thanks

My dealer told me don't waste your money having Ford do the MYCOLOR Upgrade for you!

He said you're better off changing the LCD lights to the color you want.

i have the interior package with the mycolor, and its awesome, but i want to wire the panel so it lights up anytime the ignition is on, instead of just when the lights are on. does anyone know or have access to wiring diagrams that show what triggers the mycolor to turn on?

I'm not sure, but if you want a wiring diagram send me your email address i'll send you the diagram, maybe that will help you out a little.

Do the color guages not light up always like the "normal" guages?

when you buy the cluster do they ask for your current miles? do they send it to you with your miles on it? or does you computer say how many miles you have?

Red Green Blue are the three colors that make up everything you see on you're television. By mixing together those three colors you can make any color you want. However, when they only give you 5 levels (with no 0 option) of each color it doesn't allow for as much differentiation, which is why a lot of the colors are light blue and so forth.

I want to put this option into my 05 GT.  I was wondering if it mattered if you put a used cluster in, would it have to be re-flashed or would it work without?  I would also like more information regarding the re-flash I keep reading about.  Is it as simple as removing the battery cable?

Hey Guys - that's good news that some will work w/o the as built info. Has anyone else had success not having do download the as-built info?

For those that want to do the upgrade, Ed has switched dealerships but still great to deal with. Call him at Parr Ford:

Ok here is something I've been meaning to ask but have always forgotten about.  My v6 is an 05 and it has the mycolor option...I was under the impression that mycolor came out in 2006? is this correct? Did the person before me have it added or was mycolor an option for 05 v6's as well?

another highly inteligent comment from the crowd. actuall when i got my car you couldnt get the IUP due to the lawsuit. plus i dont like the aluminum dash it looks lame in my opinion and it dont go with my black yellow theme. all that aluminum takes away from the retro look.

What lawsuit?  Or did you mention it in your rambling post that I stopped reading?  LOL

I tried to call Ed Olsen at Millennium Ford in Seattle WA and was told he doesn't work there anymore. For those who have been thinking of adding my color, 6 gauge instrument cluster, with message center, Millennium Ford doesn't do any ordering anymore.  My local Ford dealer would order the parts but $345 for the instrument panel and a $300 non refundable core charge... I was told by the dealer to get the $300 back, I would have to turn in the same used instrument panel... not one without the message center and 4 instruments.

Does anyone know of another dealer that will?
Thanks in advance.

I'm having mine installed right now and the dealer can't get the tire sensor to work with the new cluster.  He's flashed the over and over and it just doesn't work.  Unless they can do it soon, I'm probably going to have to put the old one back in.

What a waste of money if it doesn't work.
