I am fixing to buy a new '04 Svt cobra, or '03 Svt cobra and was wondering what is the fastest and easiest way to get better 1/4 miles (still being street legal). And without NOS. Thanks.

And without NOS. Thanks. Dan04COBRA 08-24-2003, 10:41 PM NOS is a brand not the actual product...just a fair warning, some of the guys here take it as an insult ;) For a SC'd car...I'd say a pulley upgrade <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0"> jeep45238 08-25-2003, 02:31 AM SLICKS and MORE BOOST. http://FIRETRESSES.COM/pix/Jeep/nitrous_moron.JPG border= And to sit there and want to do it without nitrous is plain foolish. The best bang for the buck out there of any mod, for any motor. wei462 08-25-2003, 03:59 AM Nitrous is NOT the only way to do things. If you are going to get a '03 Cobra, you can change out the blower pulley to a smaller one which will give you more boost. I think that a smaller pulley would be a lot cheaper than NO2 system and you can get some good gains from it.<edited><editID>wei462</editID><editDate>37858.0836226852</editDate></edited> jeep45238 08-25-2003, 04:03 AM Nitrous is NOT the only way to do things. True, but 100+ horses for under $600? What other mod can give that (and changing for a smaller pully doesn't count, I consider his car an exception as it came blown). vfast 08-25-2003, 04:06 PM yeah but if something hapens put the stock pulley back on and let the dealer fix it under warrantty..itn't great*L* Redline5th 08-27-2003, 05:44 PM n20 YEAH it's called n20!!! won't that void his warrenty..? Jugador1 08-27-2003, 05:46 PM then we can settle on gears perhaps. not easy to do yourself, but it will get ta scootin' fast jeep45238 08-27-2003, 07:05 PM It won't really void his warranty. The smaller supercharger would do the same thing. Just need to remove things when you take it in for service and keep your lips shut<img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"> 95_GT_Stang 08-28-2003, 12:22 AM Hey jeep, are you in love with nitrous? Every time I see you post, you always mention nitrous. Dont get me wrong, nitrous is great HP for the buck, but how much will that engine be after it blows? I'd have to say that pulleys, cai, exhaust, shifter, and gears would be the best bang for the buck. If you have an engine that can handle the nitrous, then by all means go for it. But if it were my car, i'd stick to the simple bolt ons. Jugador1 08-28-2003, 01:43 AM (i figure as many times as i've seen him praise it ican answer this one)</P> the engine won't "blow" if you're not trying to be paul walker. be conservative and build up your bottom end to withstand it...otherwise only do about 20 hp per cylinder (thats the figures i hear). dont be a hero and use common sense and it's a great mod.</P> jeep45238 08-28-2003, 02:33 AM Exactly. And I am having an affair with the juice lady. Shhhhhhh. 95_GT_Stang 08-28-2003, 03:04 AM lol, damn the fast and the furious. And damn who ever thought of crushing that saleen. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley7.gif border="0"> I almost didn't watch the movie cuz of that. So you actually can use nitrous on a stock 5.0 engine and it will stand it? I have heard a lot on both sides of this. But it does make sense that if you dont use it like Paul Walker that it will do. So is there an amount of HP that the bottom end will hold up to? As I have allready added a few doo dads. Thanks in advance. jeep45238 08-28-2003, 01:38 PM You can easily use nitrous on a stock 5.0. NOS reccomends not to shoot anything larger than a 100 shot on it. Others claim 125. I personally go by kit manufacturer's suggestions and play it safe<img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"> s**t, my Saturn can take a 75 shot and keep going strong for over 100K miles (been done on motors with over 125K miles) The smart thing to do (although i dbout your moto's been abused a lot, with 30K miles) would do a leak down test using a compression tester to see if your valves and rings are sealing correctly. Don't use below 2500 RPM, don't use when the motor can't easily rev, and don't hit the rev limiter. RESPECT your system. 95_GT_Stang 08-28-2003, 07:01 PM Cool, thanks for the info jeep.<img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"> Redline5th 08-28-2003, 09:05 PM maybe someone should tell him what to do to prepare his engien for N20 Jugador1 08-28-2003, 09:34 PM maybe someone should tell him what to do to prepare his engien for N20</P> </P> (i figure as many times as i've seen him praise it ican answer this one)</P> the engine won't "blow" if you're not trying to be paul walker. <U>be conservative and build up your bottom end to withstand it</U> (this means pistons, crank, rods, all that)...otherwise only do about 20 hp per cylinder (thats the figures i hear). dont be a hero and use common sense and it's a great mod.</P> Zcpeanut 08-29-2003, 02:11 PM ug i hate f&f, people come out of that wanting imports & NOS, instead of wanting domestic and nitrous. besides that alot of my friends hate nitrous when they dont know anything about it, they just say that causeve f&f yellow94gt 08-31-2003, 04:16 AM The guy I bought my 94 gt from has had several mustangs over the course of his life and is the grand F-ing wizard when it comes to making them fast and reliable. I have weighed the option of fogging the sh*t out of my car. I still have stock bottom end, block, and pistons but the top end is all new performance stuff. Before I started the work on the motor I thought about spraying it. Everyone I talked to around here said hit it with a 150 shot nitrous works system. I thought a 150 shot would killthemotor, but I have driven a few in the past couple of months with no mods other than that 150 shot and exhaust. Everyone of them ran stout as hell. If I am not mistaken, the gt's (87-95) have forged pistons stock, so that will help a bit with handling the juice. Jeep's recommendation of testing the motor with a compression tester is probably a goodidea too. If you go anything over 150 im sure there will have to be fuel system upgrades to keep the gas flowing enough so ur not spraying more nitrous than you are gasoline. I havent yet put the fogg on my car, but Im sure it'll come before too long.</P> but to answer ur question about cheap fast mods. Exhaust, gears, and a k&n filter. </P> vfast 09-02-2003, 11:59 PM 150 won't kill it now but will die a slow death..just use caution...best things to have are a fuel pressure switch, and a controler,,these are exspensive but work and you car will be alot faster with the controller...I have seen a sec+ faster in 300 hp units Jugador1 09-03-2003, 12:50 AM like i said, get gears. you wont have to worry about ruining anything and its pretty cheap.</P> jeep45238 09-03-2003, 01:33 AM If you take it to a shady shop or you attempt to do it yourself and you havne't done it a lot before, there's a lot at risk. Jugador1 09-03-2003, 01:37 AM there's also a lot of risk with nitrous. </P> *NEWSFLASH* N2O is not Jesus.</P> Zcpeanut 09-03-2003, 03:27 AM theres risk with every major mod you do, do it if ya got the balls... im personally gonna make a mustang my crusin car, considerin im almost a shoein at a really nice college im gonna have the cash for cars, b/c thats all i get really excited about hah cars.. so ya, i wouldnt mod the hell out of a daily driver :P<edited><editID>Zcpeanut</editID><editDate>37867.0617592593</editDate></edited> n2o44 09-03-2003, 03:33 AM smaller pulley, gears, long tubes and some tire in back and youll have fun . a good tune would be nice too . then a small shot of spray will do fine 75 . imo <IMG src=smileys/smiley15.gif border="0"> |
