Stock exh, stock programming, stock tires, and as I mentioned before, the ungodly high geared rears. They consistantly run 8.6's, I run 8.8's with an A4 tranny. One of these 2 guys happens to like to run a stock Cobra and sees no real need to modify.

The vette I spoke of above ran an 8.6 with street tires, vara ram air, and slp loudmouth exhaust, nothing else and that was his FIRST run, didn't warm his tires much, got a lot of spin and a ****ty launch, and ran 8.6, so THERE ha! Fast4Door and I prove our points!

And one of the modded cobras, pullied, exh, chip etc...ran 8.14 3 times in a row. granted, I congradulated him on such consistant runs, but he was whooped on by a 99 Camaro SS with just a 125 shot and and air lid and flowmaster catback.
Then the other guy, Well, he was damn fast, 7.4's. And they were some awesome runs.
But no match for the guy in the 2k vette with the 427 (stroked 6L) that ran 7.2's off the bottle.

It was originally designed to be a cheap affordable Corvette, with none of the extra options available as on the Coupe and Convertible. So just because your boyfriend has one, that must be the best? Don't go to Corvette Forum much do you? The 99 FRC was the last year, or maybe it was 00, that they made the FRC, it is the base model of the Z06, it has the Z51 handling package and is lighter than other models, such as the vert and removable top, and it will beat both of those so I would say the REAL vette guys would prefer the FRC over the others any day, they are rare and not many were made. So yes they are faster than the other models... we've proven it against other vettes time and time again. At first I wrote 04 Vette, but I used the 99 FRC because I have PROOF. Its not just a magazine race or an assumption. They raced when Jon had his Vara Ram Air and SLP Loudmouth, Jon was behind by about 3 cars, then the FRC just began closing on his bro and at about 120-130, he was passing the Cobra.

So FMC came out with the Cobra version, and of course GM responded with the LT4, which was a Vette motor but was still produced. Then came the LS1 and after a few more years of ass-whoopin, Ford responded by supercharging a 4.6. So, the ZO6 is just a model of a vette, the LS6 is a produced engine and stock for stock will stomp all over the s/c'd 4.6.
Put the LS6 in an F-body and run it stock for stock vs. the Cobra.

Well, if your going to wait that long, you should look into a Trans Brake. Might be a worth while addition since your going with such a high stall. There more of a race car thing, but the new stuff is really cool and programable too.

Ah, finally, someone speaks the truth. I love domestic cars as much as the next domestic fan, but I know their limitations. I'm not scared of hardly any 5.0's I come across on the street, they need A LOT of mods to run with me. 4.6's....please, I've yet to see a fast one. I know they're out there, ie MD's car, but I haven't seen them. I don't see any GM guys here bashing Fords....I just see Ford guys attacking GM. Go look at some post, especially a lot of new people to the forum, all they do is bash f-bodies, simply because they're ignorant to them. Not saying they're ignorant, just un educated in the ways of fast cars. I know how fast my car is, I know how fast most peoples Mustangs are, simply because I am informed on such. If everyone was like that, the racing community would be a much better place.

And I've got both cars and owners right here to prove it. On videos that we can't get on the computer yet unfortunately. But, we can't redo any of this, since now the Vette has an ATI and some other goodies and the Cobra has a pulley and chip, so, oh well. So, no redos.


If you want stats, I've got 'em :)
Now, let's look into this a little more...
First off, why are you comparing a brand new Cobra to a 4 year old Vette?
2003 Corvette base price: $43,325
2003 Cobra base price: $34,995
2003 Corvette 1/4 mile time: 13.6 seconds
2003 Cobra 1/4 time: 12.28
This means nothing to you probably, but I've seen a bone stock Cobra in 75 degree weather run a 12.03, a 12.12, and a 12.09 one after the other. Keep in mind this is on street tires. Also, why are you talking about interior comfort and pedal stiffness? These are matters of opinion (and I personally love a stiff clutch). And finally, I don't know about you but I don't plan to be doing much highway racing at speeds greater than 100. What you say is true, but I personally won't need to worry about that more than once or twice.

You must be HIGH... we have 4 03 Cobras that i have seen run at our local track. 2 are modded and 2 are stock. the 2 stock ones I have run against with my K&N filtered, 2.73:1 rear end 02 Z28 and I am .2 sec behind them. Stock exh, stock programming, stock tires, and as I mentioned before, the ungodly high geared rears. They consistantly run 8.6's, I run 8.8's with an A4 tranny. One of these 2 guys happens to like to run a stock Cobra and sees no real need to modify.
I'm sure in the 1/4 the "forced induction" would start to pull a little more having more distance to build boost and power, but the Cobra is not all that. IT"S SUPERCAHRGED!!! OF COURSE it's gonna haul a$$. But a Cobra w/o mods would be owned by a Z06.

I thought it was made clear that I was talking about a standard Vette, not a ZO6. They "own" the Cobras, but not by more than .3 seconds. well, i used the 99 because i have proof of it, my bf has that car and his bro, a brand new 03 cobra, and they raced, when the cobra cut his exhaust it spun so much that the vette beat it then, before, the cobra would get those car lengths and the vette would come back.... so... thats why i used the 99 FRC, because its a car I've seen in action and its provable.

There's nothing here that says 98LS1, WS6, and I don't like Mustangs. I. personally like them, owned them and work on them. It's just when I decided to buy another late model v-8 car, I drove the GT and the Z28. And the GT definately did not impress me, though the Z felt real good to me. maybe it would be opposite to someone else. If I had alot of money, then it would be a toss up between the Vette and the Cobra. Since I don't and I make minimum wage, being in the military, I don't have alot of choices. Plus the Z had 18k less miles and was $3k cheaper.

OH, and why I hang out here is there are good vids, good people, and I actually learn quite a bit so when I do help my friends that own Mustangs, I know what I'm talking about to either converse with them or help them.

I see you're from Modesto, cool. I spent a little time there...Rodeoin. I was stationed at Ft Ord and that was when i decided to quit drinking.
