Well guys I took the plunge and ordered the 8.8 rear end from Hillbank, just to keep my options open in case I decide to do the certified CS6 thing. I contacted PowerHouse Automotive about the rear end to drive shaft connection and here's what they had to say:

quote:

If you have a V6 Auto, you will need a shaft for a V6 auto, but you will have to change the pinion flange on your GT (either stick or auto) rear to a 03-04 cobra flange, at that point the shaft will bolt right in.

Its fairly close to what TJ said except that they are suggesting the yoke off of an SN95 Cobra. I guess I'm now saving up for an aluminum drive shaft and the flange off of a Cobra.

Thanks for the compliments.

Ride is OK, little vibration in steering wheel at certain speeds(55-70). Probably due to the tire shop not centering properly. Due for tire rotaion in 1,000 miles and Ford will get it right I'm sure. Handling is phenomenal, wet or dry these tires rock! Don't exect to break loose your tires as much it is a heavy rim. I don't want tolower any either love the comments I get when I'm driving around.

I need to make the decision soon, though, $900 with shipping for a 8.8 rear end with 3.55s or $770 with shipping for the same thing with 3.31 gears. (If I could gust get some one to tell me about the rear OEM drive shaft compatibility)

Go with the $770 one and put in 4.10 gears ($149 rpmoutlet.com). Where did you find the 3.31 for $770 shipped?

Rogue, sorry man, I missed the last part. Here's the link. I went through the buy process to the point where they stated $120 for shipping.

http://www.speedconcepts.net/product_info.php?products_id=728

You may also need the flange/yoke to adapt the 8.8 to your V6 drive shaft. It's part number is E9TZ-4851-A (verified with Ted at Shelby in Las Vegas). Here's a link to a place where I found them for $47.26 plus S/H.

http://www.speedconcepts.net/product_info.php?products_id=728

Keep in mind, if you go this route it won't count towards the CS6 certificate from Shelby, but if that's not an issue, save the bucks.

Jason posted on 10/2 they recieved ten pallets of Shelby parts so I called Hillbank talked to Chris on Wed (wish it would have been Jason:)) said they were filling orders mine hasn't shipped yet, I need to know to make sure I am home when del. When I first called to to put my order in Jason said if not this order then next which would woiuld be next week will be fun to see thinking to myself I hoping within 30 days (the lastest) also I noticed some people only put down a deposit or 1/2 down on thier parts I was charged the full amount up front so 30 days I sure hope I have my stuff.

Don't forget take your camera (pics) and if possible get a picture of Jason's GT with the CS6 Hood on.

Kryptonite customs ??? :)

I got a couple of verification emails from Jason regarding shipping my 8.8-inch rear end, so it sounds like they are getting things out.

Edit: Yeah, Pete, pictures of Hillbank and any interesting Mustangs hanging around would be cool.

Regarding 20inch wheels vice smaller. The Shelby brakes are 14 inch (for comparison the GT500 has 13 inch) and require 20inch wheels, however if you use stock brakes the 20inch rims will look goofy as the air gap between the wheels and the discs make them look like bicycle tires. I've seen the combo on a 2002 or so mustang, it wasn't pretty.

The 8.8 inch rear axles that Hillbank sells have the adapter plate already and the stock driveshaft or powerhouse driveshaft will bolt right up. I had a powerhouse aluminum driveshaft installed and the installers tell me it fit with no issues.

LOL Pictures ok, but it's not going to be what you expect. Most of the body parts have not arrived except the hood and neither has the supercharger, brakes and wheels.

These are the Shelby Razor (Gunmetal) as opposed to the Razor Series which come in Chrome and Silver. The Shelby Razors were supposed to be in Silver but they screwed up and made them in gunmetal only. In the future they probably will be released in Silver (and possibly Chrome) but I wanted the Shelby branded wheels and didn't want to hold up the project waiting for an indefinite future.

My hood came in today I have to say IMO very high quality fiberglass hood compared to fiberglass hoods I have seen in the past. The right side corner pictured below is the only rough spot, will need closing up the fender/hood gaps a little bit.

I test fitted the hood on the car (haven't adjusted the rubber bumpers or bolted on yet) as you can see in the picture below

I also didn’t receive the heat extractor grille for the hood which according to Jason is back ordered, the hood also ( but hard to tell from the picture) rises like as a cowl induction out of the heat extractor back up to the windshield never really noticed this before from the pictures I have seen of this hood I like it. If you look at the picture with the hood on the car and look at the back of the hood by the windshield you can see it rises (cowl induction like) about 1 ½ higher than the stock hood lip. I have an ideal of something I think might be cool but you will have to wait till I am done.

I don’t have time but maybe tomorrow I will post some more info on regarding this hood for others who are thinking about it, I like the hood I think it differently gives the car a more aggressive look.

On a side note I found two other types of other wheels I like will post pictures tomorrow of them I just can't decide on wheels!!
