Well guys I took the plunge and ordered the 8.8 rear end from Hillbank, just to keep my options open in case I decide to do the certified CS6 thing. I contacted PowerHouse Automotive about the rear end to drive shaft connection and here's what they had to say: quote:
If you have a V6 Auto, you will need a shaft for a V6 auto, but you will have to change the pinion flange on your GT (either stick or auto) rear to a 03-04 cobra flange, at that point the shaft will bolt right in. Its fairly close to what TJ said except that they are suggesting the yoke off of an SN95 Cobra. I guess I'm now saving up for an aluminum drive shaft and the flange off of a Cobra.

Thanks for the compliments. Ride is OK, little vibration in steering wheel at certain speeds(55-70). Probably due to the tire shop not centering properly. Due for tire rotaion in 1,000 miles and Ford will get it right I'm sure. Handling is phenomenal, wet or dry these tires rock! Don't exect to break loose your tires as much it is a heavy rim. I don't want tolower any either love the comments I get when I'm driving around.

ORIGINAL: Pyrat I need to make the decision soon, though, $900 with shipping for a 8.8 rear end with 3.55s or $770 with shipping for the same thing with 3.31 gears. (If I could gust get some one to tell me about the rear OEM drive shaft compatibility) Go with the $770 one and put in 4.10 gears ($149 rpmoutlet.com). Where did you find the 3.31 for $770 shipped? Rogue, sorry man, I missed the last part. Here's the link. I went through the buy process to the point where they stated $120 for shipping. http://www.speedconcepts.net/product_info.php?products_id=728 You may also need the flange/yoke to adapt the 8.8 to your V6 drive shaft. It's part number is E9TZ-4851-A (verified with Ted at Shelby in Las Vegas). Here's a link to a place where I found them for $47.26 plus S/H. http://www.speedconcepts.net/product_info.php?products_id=728 Keep in mind, if you go this route it won't count towards the CS6 certificate from Shelby, but if that's not an issue, save the bucks.

I got a couple of verification emails from Jason regarding shipping my 8.8-inch rear end, so it sounds like they are getting things out. Edit: Yeah, Pete, pictures of Hillbank and any interesting Mustangs hanging around would be cool.

Regarding 20inch wheels vice smaller. The Shelby brakes are 14 inch (for comparison the GT500 has 13 inch) and require 20inch wheels, however if you use stock brakes the 20inch rims will look goofy as the air gap between the wheels and the discs make them look like bicycle tires. I've seen the combo on a 2002 or so mustang, it wasn't pretty. The 8.8 inch rear axles that Hillbank sells have the adapter plate already and the stock driveshaft or powerhouse driveshaft will bolt right up. I had a powerhouse aluminum driveshaft installed and the installers tell me it fit with no issues.

LOL Pictures ok, but it's not going to be what you expect. Most of the body parts have not arrived except the hood and neither has the supercharger, brakes and wheels.

FYI... Speed Concepts just dropped the price of the 3.31 8.8-inch rear end from $649.95 to $579.95. http://www.speedconcepts.net/product_info.php?products_id=728
