I have not seen much discussion on here about shocks. I installed springnet lwoering springs on my mustang about 8 months ago, and recently I believe my stock shocks may have jsut about had it as their is more rattling noise coming from them as I go over bumps. I wanted to upgrade to some new shocks, and the only 3 I have found that they make for our cars are the Tokico D-specs, the eibach pro-dampers (new ones just released), and the Ford Racing dynamic damper kit. All 3 kits run for about $500, give or take $100 depending on where you get them, so price isnt really an issue in the decision. I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with them. I am leaning toward the tokicos because I know they have always made good shocks. Also, is this something I can install myself? I know the rear shocks are probably easy, but the front ones require a spring compressor.
Also, thanks for all the advice on my rear sway bar. I didnt know I had it on backwards! I thought I put it in the only way it could go. I have not experienced any problems though, the handling of my car has been great. I will try to see if I can put it in the other way and over the support bars (which only the vert has). From what I remember, I couldnt get it in that way. Does anyone have any pics of the rear sway bar installed on a vert over the support bars? I posted pics of mine and was told it is on wrong. Thanks!
Hey, we have the Dspec adjustable struts on our yellow GT (and a lot of other suspension upgrades) but please don't think they will ride as soft as stock. Yes they are adjustable but on our car we went Eiback pro springs, Tokico strus and 20" wheels with 255/35 front tires, 285/30/20 rear tires LCA, front and rear sway bars and the list goes on... between all those items Yes the GT handles trully like a slot car but ride quality does suffer on bumps. (yes I could tune some 'plushness' back into the struts and I do when the wife is going to drive the GT for a while) When ever you change something most of the time there is a payoff. In this case I got far better handling for trading in the soft plush ride I had. Completely worth it to me! Sorry but I can't believe anywhere has worse roads then Alaska, I was worried at first as I thought I would bend a rim on all the pot holes we have. So far so good and I will not be goin back as a matter of fact the Black vert will be sporting the same suspension/tire wheel combo as the Yellow vert by next summer. If you are after looks AND performance, we added the 20's last and a huge improvement in handling but also ride suffered the most. If you just want looks go with 17's or 18's, but don't be surprised when someone with a good suspension sportin 20's leave you behind in the twisties! Yes 20's do make that much difference! Before installing the 20's we had 255/45/17 and with stock suspension those were a real nice handling improvement over the stock Pirelli 235/55/17. Then I changed all the suspension parts and WOW those same tires were very limiting as to what the car was now capable of. On with the 20's and Completely different car. Heck when I jump from on car to another it like driving a slot car vs dring a boat. (sorry no offense towards anyone just comparing our own 2 cars) The stock Mustang sure rides nice on rough roads, but the GT sure is way more fun in the twisties and everyday driving to me! 05SDI
