Default heel toe & small feet

You know what they say about a man with small feet? ITS A LIE.....

go ahead with the flamming, I asked for it

to my question
I am trying to learn the ins and outs of heel toe, BUT i can't seem to train my foot to rotate over and hit the gas during the downshift. When I do remeber I end up overreving the engine because I don't have a good reference point on the gas pedal. Is there a way to simplify this problem?

thanks

Consider aftermarket pedals. An aftermarket, slightly broader, high performance pedal kit might solve all your problems. Although, the tecnique is achievable even with small feet with practice.

Exactly, just like Birdieman4 said "practice." Practice even when you're not driving (that's what I did [sm=smiley14.gif] while at the office, at the dinner table, on the couch, or even on a golf cart (keep your right foot on the accelerator and practice the "sweeping" motion often). After a while, you will heel-toe with no problem. I do heal-toe ALL the time now, so it's almost like second nature. Just remember that all this happens at once: brake, clutch + strike accelerator, and down shift.

Also, make sure your seat is adjusted in an appropriate manner to give your feet enough "slack" to do all the motions needed comfortably. You can easily do it with stock pedals, but some aftermaket pedals help with the additional lower-left surface area on the accelorator pedal (and sometimes additional area on the lower-right side of the brake pedal). I actually prefer the stock pedals to some aftermarket because that extra size actually gets in my way. But, that's just me. You'll find your technique and preferences that will work best for your driving style and setup.

Remember, there is more than one way to do this technique - as long as you keep that power band up without breaking traction (Unless you enjoy drifting), you're good.
