I found this today while I was watching some car vids... is this anyones GT on this site? since ive seen so many threads of a mustang vs 350Z i thought that this video was pretty good proof that the mustang is faster even in the top end from a roll...

From my experience racing 06 GT's in my 06 350 it is a drivers race. . . The cars are almost dead even from a dig. both come from the factory with 300hp, the 350 has a slight weight advantage and the mustang has a torque advantage. . . 06 350 owners are posting up time slips that range from 13.60 - 14.20 stock . . . not sure what you guys are doing stock? . . . I've never had a stock GT pull on me like that . . . that GT defiantly did smack up on that 350 though. . .maybe an auto. . . 06 350 is a better match up.

I have heard good drivers with great conditions can run low-mid 13's.
But a CAI+TUNE a radials you might break 12's.

So?? a friend of mine has a black 06 with 23lbs of boost putting 712 RWHP and I can get the dyno sheets to prove it.

I realize that the 2006 350Z is putting down 300 hp, but that is only 13 hp more than it used to make. Not only that, but the 13 extra horses comes at a loss fo 14 ft-lbs of peak torque. How much of an improvement can that be over the 287 hp 350Z especially with less torque? The older models hovered right around a 14.0-14.1 1/4 mile time from what I've seen.
I bet the 2006 350Z would be a bit slower off the line due to the loss of torque, but how much will 13 bhp give you up top in the 1/4? A tenth? I'm not sure what to expect out of the new ones. Either way I wouldn't expect to see that much of an improvement over the older ones.
My buddy has a stock 2006 350Z he bought a few months ago, but he really isn't into racing. Maybe I will have to convince him to race it so I can get some personal experience with the 06+ 350Z.

So?? No one seems to care about you friends 06 with 23lbs of boost, so no need to prove anything. Its funny Andrew, all you seem to ever do is defend OTHER makes and models in your posts, you should seriously consider getting a car you like and join a forum in which you can enjoy discussing it.
All cars can be made fast, Most people in here just think that our mustang is the last coke in the desert. I do have other cars but I do know what the other cars are capable. I know a stock gt is no match for a stock srt-8 who ever thinks so prob also pays someone to install their CAI. a 06+ 350z vs a 05+gt is a DRIVERS RACE the cars are just about equal. The 06 350z is 300 hp @ 6.2k with a 7k rpm redline and Weights 3,200-3,350 our Gt is 300hp @ 5.7k with 6,250 redline and weights at around 3,500 lbs, We do have a torque advantage though. The cars are almost equal like I said. I just hate it when people go up and down about how the GT burns every other car in production. I am still waiting to see someone say they owned a z06 c6 vette with just intake, exhaust, gears and tune. That will be the day, prob has been said already though.

I have a friend with an '06 350Z manual tranny. I ran him for fun when we were both dead stock. I pulled him about as fast as the guy in the video did.
I'm not one of the guys who hangs around talking about how the Mustang is godly and invincible, but I can say with confidence that it's faster in a straight line than a '06 350z. So can my friend. :P
On the other hand, it could concievably be a drivers race if the Z driver was substantially better.

From what uve seen. Doesnt mean there isnt better. People have STock 01-04GT's going 13.9s Ive nvr seen it but im not goanna call them a Liar. And no im not pushing for the 350z but it jus pissed me off when people think mustangs are better than all.

Exactly.... from what I've seen. Personal experience is always more believeable, which is also why I said I wanted to see my buddy's car perform.
However, my statement was more than fair. I never made any specific claims about anything, and I especially never called anyone a liar. In fact nobody called anyone a liar.
Nor did I ever say that the Mustang was better than all. I did point out, however, that the gain in horsepower for the 2006 350Z came at a loss of torque (which is FACT), and I wondered how that affected performance particularly in the 1/4 mile. My guess is that it would not change performance drastically, and I think that is a resonable guess.
Drivers race, drivers race, drivers race...... A lot of cars can be said to come down to a drivers race. That goes without saying. Sure a stock 350Z and a stock Mustang GT is a drivers race, but the Mustang SHOULD win. Likewise a race between a stock LS1 Camaro Z28 and a stock Mustang GT is a drivers race, but the Camaro Z28 SHOULD win.
Finally asserting that a Mustang GT SHOULD win in a 1/4 race with a 350Z is in no way saying a Mustang is better than all either. Also, might I point out there is a difference between the word SHOULD and WILL. I didn't say a Mustang GT WILL win a 1/4 race against a 350Z is said SHOULD.

that being said at least you are polite... i agree it's a drivers race w/ the 350z being the underdog. 
anyone who gives complete bs is called on it immediately by our own members that live in the real world so don't give me that crap
