I trust car and driver more than I trust that video, since they rotated the drivers and averaged out the results. Your impartial and "scientific" video has any number of explanations. Was the driver better? You pit a pro in a Mustang against a few weekend racers and what happens? Surely you don't really believe that a stock mustang (a GT) is faster round a track than an M coupe (basically a track car), or do you? Really? You love of the car is blinding your judgement if you do. The other assumption that you make is that the other drivers are racing, and not just letting the Mustang pass to clear the track (more likely if this is a track day and not an actually race). And is the stang even stock (probably not)? The Car and Driver comparison was with stock cars, and driver bias eliminated (as much as possible). You can show that video as much as you like, but you won't convince anybody but Mustang fanboys. The Mustang is quicker than the Z in the 1/4, but on the road it is slower than a lot of cars (Z included), at least when stock. It mods like a bast**d though.

Exactly. No need for any 350Z owners to get pissy about this topic........cuz they know they've got the lock on the situation when you introduce turns into the equation. Stock for stock......of course. Dammit......theres that phrase again.

Just a few thoughts, but first an intro... I'm not a Mustang owner, but a big fan of them. I had a downpayment on a GT500, but the dealership kept trying to increase the costs for advertising, delivery, etc and then pushing back the date for me to get one. I'll probably get one in a year or so. Mustangs are great cars. They always have been, that's why they've been in production for so long and have such a huge array of fans. I only want to put in my 2 cents on some assumptions that are completely incorrect in this discussion thread. First off, I had an 05 coupe 350z base model and now have an 06 roadster (convertible) touring model. The 06 is what they call the "rev up" motor. Excuse my ignorance on what that means, but I can definitely feel a huge difference. My 06 is a heavy bi*** with fiberglass sub enclosure, heavy subs, amps, etc and is an AUTO and it is still faster than my 05 stick with nothing in it. The Roadsters are heavier to begin with and it's auto and still faster. The -10 ft/lbs of torque means nothing. That is peak torque and the torque band is very linear along with the powerband. The 13 hp is not a huge improvement, but with all the changes, it's definitely significant. For the Nissan tech that mentioned pricing...wow...get a clue. Just because YOUR stealership puts a ridiculous sticker on the car doesn't mean it costs that much. I bought a brand new 05 350z for $25319 OTD, that includes TTL. You can get a good used Z for around $16k, not the $26k you so stupidly assumed was a representative price. Let's just be smart about this. Anyway, you guys seem to be pretty cool and have your heads on straight. I'm down for rolling with you any time. I'm in Mesa, AZ, so any local pony boys, hit me up for a meet up some time. My car is mostly a show car, but I have Nismo R-Tune Cams, AEM CAI, and Nismo Exhaust. The other $17,000 was put into "show" stuff not "go" stuff. Here are a few quick picks from before my cams and exhaust: http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/948/tmp5219yh0.jpg http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/8759/tmp1146ma3.jpg http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/7506/tmp1051jb9.jpg

Don't worry...you're not forced to read 3 month old threads...in fact I didn't know how old it was, but apparently you did. So why are you reading it and replying if you think that it's pointless because its a few months old? This is one of the only posts with the 350z being discussed, so it wasn't totally random to intro myself in this post. I thought you guys seem cool and that I'd introduce myself to get to know a few cool guys with stangs... I realize that won't happen here, so I won't waste anymore time trying. P.S. Thanks for pointing out a typo...I'm sure that skill will do you lots of good. As an English major, it never came in handy, nor as a parent, spouse or business owner. Someday you'll see that you were just being a prick. I know how to spell, and don't need you to point out a simple typo in a quick post. Thanks for ruining my experience with this forum. I thought this would be different.

ORIGINAL: KTownGT Wow, that damn 350z jumped on the second honk and the stang reeled him in right away. You know whos stang that is? actually 350z didn't jump on 2nd honk, GT driver hit the clutch and prolly revved up to 6kRPM and dumped the clutch to get better jump but he ennded up jumping right next to him. i do that all the time.. it is so much fun when you rev the engine to 6 grand RPM and dump the clutch from a roll, the car jumps very good.

although I have to tell you guys your #'s are really outragous.... I'm a stang guy and I can tell you the 40 year old that got my lazy ass to the drag strip runs a automatic candy apple red 04 350Z with just a drop in and every time I hit the track he was right there next to me.... his worst run was a 14.3 and his best was 13.9 with a vortech at 14PSI I would see it going deep 12's easy EDIT: he had BFG DR's too stock for stock both of our cars were even, on all of our runs when we happened to line up together he would win by a hair or I would and a 350Z is the same around a track as a stang GT as the vid I posted tells you, so step up to the 05's and guess what? the Z is taken on the track AND the strip... how hard is that to admit?

I thought this would be different. Wow, you sir, are such a freaking baby... Be a man and don't cry when someone points something out in a tone you don't agree with. As an English Major, and a business owner, you should learn to double check your work for errors, it could help with any bussiness ventures you ensue, but hey, what do I know, I am just a 16 year old who is correcting an old douche's grammar mistakes. Also, why did you post your life's accomplishments? It isn't like any of us care. You need to grow some balls, but whatever, I bet your wife likes taking the "reins" at night. Have fun in this forum, if you decide to stay, that is. There are a lot of good people here, and it is a discussion forum, so you are going to get into arguments and you will meet a lot of people. -KTGT
